Couple quick thoughts...

JR has wildly exceeded all expectations. I'm shocked at his ability to make the right decision with the ball, especially when the pocket starts to collapse. Very impressive.

I have no idea what he was thinking on the late pass over the middle with the safety lying in wait, but it was really his only bad decision in the game. He's got to throw that ball away or tuck it and go. There was no one open and he forced it. Definitely a learning experience for him and the thing that also impresses me is that he definitely learns from the mistakes.

Guys, eventually Iowa is going to have to throw teams out of this 8 man look that teams are giving us. When an OSU, Wisconsin, or probably MSU gives you that look, we should be throwing the ball consistently to get them to change the defense. We haven't really faced a defense that can dictate to us yet, but we will. If MSU this week gives us that 8 man front...they will stop our running game. Rudock is going to have to exploit those looks...and he has to do it throwing on first down. This is going to be an interesting few weeks as we will play the two best defenses we will play all year. I'm looking forward to seeing our game plans.

What I like about Jake is his ability to manage the game. He threw the pick but came right back and led us down the field. That is what you look for in a QB. He does not seem to get too rattled. Keeps his composure. Pulls the ball down when he needs to ... Does not take needless sacks. Pretty exciting to know he will be leading the offense the next couple of seasons.
