Couple of observations....

One involving KF, and one involving me.

KF - I really think that he believes in his heart that winning is nothing more than proper execution and taking what you are instructed to do in practice to the field on Saturday. I really think he believes in his heart that his teams in 2002-2004, 2009 just executed better. The honest truth is that the talent level the last four (4) years specifically, sucks! And I could give a rats a** how many people KF sends to the Pro's....and quite frankly, I get kind of tired of people hanging on to this as a badge of honor and posting on here every time Ex-Hawk Joe Blow made 3 tackles for the Atlanta Falcons. GOOD FOR JOE BLOW, but that does not change in any way the current state of affairs of Iowa football. Bad coaching aside, lazy recruiting practices from the top down are the real culprit as to why we have become a laughingstock and lose 1 out of every 4 games when we are a 10+ point favorite.

Me - This involves apathy and my game watching practices here in Texas. Once was a time where when I got to the sports bar, I didn't want anyone talking to me during the game...as far as I was concerned, if someone wanted to talk about how well their kids was doing in school, then they needed to go outside at halftime and tell someone that cared. (Nothing against kids) NOW, it is about wondering who will show up at the game that I might get to visit with, or drinking some beer and playing a couple games of pool at halftime....it is NOT all about the game as it most definitely once was. During most games, I actually catch myself looking at my watch several times and wondering if I'll have time to get home and do some work in the yard. Very sad folks!!!

I lived in Dallas, the Iowa fans would jam a particular join on game day (hundreds) to watch the hawks. It was great.

NCHawker - I am in Dallas too. We used to get over 200 for basketball back in the late 80's.... EVEN on Thursday nite! But around year 3 of Boy Blunder, the crowds got slimmer and slimmer to the point where we no longer met for basketball....and haven't for around 15 years now. Football is getting the SAME way....crowds are getting smaller and smaller. The following is a prime example of apathy and general "Give up" with club members....up until this season our club still had the KF diehards....when the realists would suddenly shout out loudly something out in disgust aimed KF's direction, there were instances where things got quite tense between certain club members. This year, you could dog cuss KF the entire game and you wouldn't get much more than a glance from anyone in the club....NOBODY is drinking the Kool-Aid anymore and has his back. There isn't one person that I know of that isn't ready for change at the top.
