COUGS

He has a nice skill set but desperately needs to work on his conditioning and strength if he really wants to be an impact player. We've all seen the flashes. Adding some muscle and dropping some weight could do wonders.

Cougs can be an asset to the offense, he has shown it already this season with the pick and pop. He is one of the few big man this year that have shown the ability to hit the outside shot.

I think Cougs three point shot gives him a great advantage as a post player. He needs to work on his post game. Trimming down should help that but he still needs about 3 inches on his frame, then he could be really good.

Couldn't agree more.

The problem, as I unfortunately know from personal experience is it's a heck of lot easier talking about shedding weight than it is doing it.

I hope Cougs takes the opportunity to work with Dolyle. I'd know I'd love to have that opportunity.

I doubt that Cougs will workout with Doyle but I have full confidence in the new fitness conditioning coach that Iowa BB added to their staff earlier this summer. His name is Rusty and he's the one already responsible for a large part of the change you now see in Fuller, Cole and even Tucker I believe not to mention Rusty brings his intensity not only to the lifting/conditioning but I've seen him almost get a T while yelling at a bad call from the bench.

I love Doyle but I think we get the best of both worlds as Doyle can focus solely on getting the football team amped up for a serious BCS run again this fall while Rusty brings a slightly different approach which I think is going to pay even more dividends down the road as players get a full off-season with him this year.

My problem with Cougil is his lack of conditioning. In high school he struggled at times getting up and down the floor. I really hope a light goes off in his head and he pushes himself to get in top shape.

Cougars are awesome...I'm going out with catnip cologne and Fancy Feast undies...

Try this... yeah... its real.

Yep, getting in better shape and dropping some lbs would be a big help for Cougill's game. That's going to take a lot of work, so I hope he is ready to dedicate himself to that this offseason..

I was impressed with Cougs fitness at the beginning of the season, but I think the combo of back issues and less conditioning in-season,he might have added some lbs since November. The good news is that he did a great job from April to November last year, and made strides. Now, this year, he has to take it up another level, harden that body, and then stay on the court next year so that it stays hard.

I was under the assumption Doyle handled (oversaw) the conditionining for all of Iowa athletics. My bad.

I want to see Cougs get a lot stronger so that he does a better job of getting physical with guys in the paint.
