Correct spelling is R-U-D-O-C-K

Did you see how well he throws it straight out to the sides during those drills? He's going to fit the GD offense perfectly!

Sorry... couldn't resist. I'm actually excited about seeing him at QB for the Hawks. I think he's going to be a good one.

I like Riddick

Not trying to be a jerk here Hawkeye Nation. Just figured we should get this out of the way now before it starts to drive everyone, including myself, crazy. I think I've probably spelled his name incorrectly at one point or another as well. I've seen hundreds of posts where it's spelled Rudock, and hundreds where it's spelled Ruddock. So after my OCD started to set in I decided to check the roster. The correct spelling is Rudock.

His name is going to be used thousands of times for the foreseeable future as he progresses through the QB battle and possible earns the starting spot so I figured we might as well try to get this little error squared away.

Now please proceed to bash me for being petty ;)

Lol I don't even know how to respond to that Deano. Are these fellas on the Iowa ping pong team? If so, Hawkeye Sports needs to get the roster posted pronto.

Dude, didn't you hear about that plane crash and the name of the pilots? You need to check the news.

I had to edit my post because I just realized what you were talking about lol. Yes I heard about the plane crash, and also about the news getting in trouble. I had no idea what the names were that they used in a controversial manner... Sry that went right over my head!

And even I would draw the line on humor when something as horrific as a plane crash involving deaths is the subject. Not a very intelligent move by that news station.

Iowa St. had a fullback 6 or 7 years ago by the name of Ryan Koch, somehow his last name was pronounced Cook, there are two logical ways to pronounce that and neither are cook. Never really got that.

As for Rudock, imo, he will end up winning the QB competition so everyone will know how to pronounce/spell his name by the end of September. Jordan Bernstine was at Iowa for 5 years and bunch of people were trying to make him Jewish, so who knows.

So you're saying his name is pronounced "Rue-Dook"?

L'chaim!

Who cares about his name? The kids needs a nickname

He wears #15, the 15th Governer of Iowa was Francis Drake, (15th actually, as Kirkwood had 2 non consecutive terms) but Drake founded Drake university...so thats no good.

So Idk...Big Jake? Or maybe Ramblin' Rudock....

your - you're
their - there - they're
hear - here

Lots of other examples. While the spelling does bother me, in the long run it's not that important. The two that really get me is:

lose - loose
loser - looser

That's actually the more common way to pronounce it...I remember it coming up how odd it was that JR Koch pronounced it "Cotch" back in the day...but I do agree with you...someone didn't want "c0ck" as a last name!

All I know is that I'm really excited to see Ruddick out there this season competing with Soakul and Bishard.

I make spelling and grammatical errors all the time, but for some reason I always make sure I'm spelling names correctly. I know the addition of a single "d" in his name doesn't mean you don't know what you're talking about, but when I read a big long post where it is spelled incorrectly multiple times it distracts me from the point you're trying to make.

Just a friendly reminder ;).

And no AZ I'm not certified yet... do I need to take a board exam for that or can I earn it free of charge? Ya know I did get 2nd place in the Keystone Elementary 6th Grade Spelling Bee. I lost because I couldn't spell mascara (used a K instead of a C)! How many 6th grade boys know how to spell that crap? I still think it was rigged.

You have made a good point and have absolutely no reason to apologize for requesting that we spell Rudock's name correctly. Thank you. (NB: NO sarcasm here)

Winston Churchill was once criticized by a prominent British citizen for ending a sentence in a preposition in one of his speeches...which is, of course, a grammatical error. Churchill replied in a public statement with this..."Madam, that is the type of errant pedantry up with which I will not put!" I will, however, always spell Rudock's name correctly out of respect. So should you.
