I know they do, and I grew up on a farm, but there is more to iowa than farms, I am proud and all, but seriously they need to quit stereotyping so much

Whatelse they going to show. A beach?

Be proud Iowa is farm country. The things that people will complain about. lol

I am just being a smartass - again, I love cornfields, I spent many many hours working in them.

Although we should have a bet, do they show a cornfield, or the pink lockeroom more times?

If the combines were running you would have seen the cornfield view looking down from the combine. Always happens. I personally love it. What else could you want for a game between two Iowa teams?!

Iowa a farm country? lol I heard a statistic on the radio about 2 weeks ago. Guess how many Iowans are actually farmers (percentage wise)..... Answer: 2%. Now tell me Iowa is a farm country. I agree with some of the other posts, it would be nice to see other things in Iowa besides the cornfield. Nothing against farmers or cornfields but they do get old after you see them everyday. Also lets be honest, most of the people that are watching this game are in the midwest and most people in the midwest have seen cornfields before. But anyways lets get back to the game and enjoy another Hawkeye win!

Here's another stat that goes along with that though...

Total land area in Iowa (acres): 35,747,594
Total farmland area in Iowa (acres): 30,747,550
Percentage of farmland: 86.0%

(2007 data)

What are they suppose to show?...beans? It would be nice to show more though. No hogs please.

Thanks hawkfan2679. Iowa is Farm Country. To lazy to look something up that I know to be TRUE. I don't care how many people are actually doing it and yes I know that it would be a low #.

Find it crazy that someone claims that Iowa isn't farm country. lol

These are simply beautiful statistics. Glorious. One of the primary reasons to love Iowa so much.
I have lived in places with ridiculously high human population density (Rhode Island, Chicago suburbs), and believe me when I tell you, farmland and open space is far, far more desirable. :)
