Cooper Koch is Returning!!

Ben like shooters...especially those that hit 40 + % from the three. He will teach them defense. Koch fits the mold. Now on to seeing if we can get Sandfort and Dix to return.

And yes the Hawks will play defense next season.... haven't seen much of that for a while.....that Drake team was fun to watch defensively and they rebounded. Coach Mc Collum likes to win the margins.

It's a lot easier to get defensive rebounds when you aren't leaking 2-3 guys out to start a fast break.

This one had me scratching my head from day one. He is a standard legacy recruit and this portal entry was the most puzzling one to me. I was just shaking my head over this situation. It made no sense. I am certain that he and his dad had a heart to heart talk and concluded this was in his best interest.

The last 3 years, I don’t think it even mattered. It wasn’t going to make Krikke, Pmac and even Freeman better rebounders in the half-court. Payton couldn’t “cheat” the last 3 years, because he had to stay back and help rebound.

This is good news. Any time a former players son stays on the team is a positive all around. I look forward to watching Koch get some minutes. I remember watching his father play. I will miss Brauns. Wish he could have gotten more minutes last year but not enough out there for everyone.

I was disappointed to hear that Brauns had used up his eligibility. He played very well..

Duke is really fun to watch, one of the best college basketbal teams ever in my opioion

From The Athlete concerning their victory over Alabama on Sunday...

Had Sears been hitting at the same scintillating rate as he did in the Crimson Tide’s Sweet 16 blowout over BYU, things might’ve gone differently. But the waves of defenders Duke threw at the All-American stymied Sears’ typical impact, relegating him to a scoreless first 17:43 of the game that included as many turnovers (three) as shots. Sears finally got a middy to fall minutes before the break, but it was obvious that Duke’s length — as the tallest team in the country, per KenPom, with no rotation players under 6 feet 5 — was just as much of an impediment as it was all season.

“It’s not really something that we haven’t done before,” Duke guard Caleb Foster said. “Contest every shot, don’t get strung out too far and (don’t get) riled up if they hit a few.”

There’s a reason why Scheyer and one of his closest friends in basketball, Boston Celtics general manager Brad Stevens, agreed on the best college roster-building philosophy back in the preseason: There’s no substitute for length.
