In the age of Nil and turnstile players, I think we are about to see how low it can go. I am far from the most negative person on this forum, but I dont see any positive direction for a long time. I may be wrong, perhaps we score the coach of the century and secure college players who don’t have million dollar signs, but I can’t see it.

They could make the right hire, McCollum could still be that, so could someone else. But chances and out look is cloudy at the moment. Let’s see what Beth can do.
And if McCollum means it when he says he's solely focused on his team right now, it could be a while before he is able to be hired and announced...and will anyone be left on the roster?

There is no right hire until you secure more NIL money. Illinois who beat us in the BTT had $5.75 million in salary. Iowa had $1.5. And Illinois isn’t even at the top of the conference.
Don’t trust me. Read literally every article out there about the coaching hire (or lack thereof). We are going to whiff when we make good coaches offers because we have no money to give and those coaches know it’s not a winnable situation. The U can’t give the swarm money, it has to come from private donors. The donor base has spoken.

You don't fire Franny unless you have your man lined up. Heck might as well played in a post-season tournament now. Not a good look for Beth, starting to think she isn't up to the job, with Will wade gone the best two coaches available are spoken for

Everyone needs to chill out. She missed on her top pick to Indiana. Iowa is always going to lose out to a blue blood and ya can't really blame her for that. Every decent coach is currently occupied in the tournament. If Iowa has to wait for McCollum, that's fine by me. He isn't engaging with anyone else during this time. If he wins a couple games, he will likely up his profile, but I don't think he's a serious contender for like...Texas or Villanova and he's not tied to either of those jobs.
McCollum is going to obviously care about NIL, he has to...but he's currently at Drake. They don't have a robust NIL. Half of his team is from D2. He's exactly the kind of guy Iowa needs to hire as it appears he's often done more with less. He's also from Iowa City and a life long Iowa fan.
I am going to cheer for him to make the S16... there's almost no chance that he's not the # 1 target and Iowa is going to have to wait til he's available. Nice thing is, so does everyone else.

Yes you do. Fran had to go. He couldn't be brought back and have CHA 2/3ds empty again. The transfers that we are seeing now most of them were all going to be doing that regardless of Fran staying or not. Freeman, Harding and Dix were all gonzo anyway.
Would it have been a home run to have hired DeVries within 48 hours? Absolutely but cookie didn't crumble that way. The dance is just getting started up now. My guess is like everyone elses and that Beth has Ben McCollum next on her list. Once she can talk to him after he's done then we'll see what happens. If he goes somewhere else that would make things problematic but there's still alot of options out there. Indiana had to go down to the 4th guy on their list they'd been at it for like a month already. If we had to wait 2-3 weeks it wouldn't be the end of the world.
Things were always going to get worse before they can get better. Whole program needed to be blown up and that's what's happening. If you have aspirations of the next coach picking right up where Fran was that's unrealistic. We Hawk fans need some self awareness or reality is gonna hurt when it hits you in the face

Yeah... I don't think people realize how rough it's probably gonna be for hoops for the next few yrs. There's a better chance of Iowa being the doormat for the next 2-3 yrs then being in top 10 of the BIG during that same time. Till they have solid coach and NIL $ to some sort of reasonable level to attract kids it's gonna be awhile till we can compete. And even then that doesn't guarantee anything that just means we'll have a shot.
If the next coach has Iowa wining 20 games and in tourny in the next 2 yrs build him a statue. Cause that'd be one hell of an accomplishment. It sure as hell shouldn't be anyones expectations though.
