Worse. I played in Nebraska....I know you didn't play at Dordt...
My next door neighbor had a son in our youth soccer program. He took over the program. After his son played 1 year, he shut down the program. It has never come back and we don't have a HS team. It was his plan all along. He didn't want baseball to get hurt. He's my favorite person on the planet. Deserves a Nobel Prize. He wasn't one of those psycho dads either. Never complained about anything. His kid and his kid's class loved baseball and he didn't want soccer to get in the way. His kid ended up playing D1, so it worked.Adding soccer hurt a lot of schools around me in baseball/softball.
I had 1 kid graduate last year and still have 3 kids playing everything. I already miss the hell out of watching my son play. This summer is going to be tough not having him. He worked his ass off and ended up having the best year of any player I've had in a long time.I don't know what the hell I'm going to do when my son graduates from high school. He's played something year round since he was a kindergartner and I've used every bit of my PTO either going to watch sports or coaching. I'll figure something out, just don't know what yet.
Yeah I'm gonna be a little lost after this year I think but I'll adjust. Hoping he makes state track this year because that's such a fun experience and a reward for working so hard. Baseball we don't have a prayer in hell of winning our first district game so that will be what it is. Baseball isn't what it was when I was a kid as far as getting kids out for a sport in the summer (at least where I live) so I'm at peace with it. Last year my son and his best friend hit back to back homers to start the year out which was probably the pinnacle of baseball parenting for me, so that was pretty cool. There's three of them who are super tight since kindergarten and the other one leads off. He got on base, stole second and third (he'll be a college 200m runner), then my son hit a dinger to drive them both in, and the other one hit one the next pitch. Our current rag tag team won't ever top that. My kid and I have a jersey swap planned for senior night in July, surprisingly I can still fit in my HS jerseyI had 1 kid graduate last year and still have 3 kids playing everything. That's movie villain-level brilliant. I love it.My next door neighbor had a son in our youth soccer program. He took over the program. After his son played 1 year, he shut down the program. I got curious and bored one day so I went on Dordt's athletics website, as far back as their records go which is 1997, they've never had a winning record and only once had double digit wins. Thinking I might go apply.Worse. I played in Nebraska....
