The trophy looks like a toilet seat. It might be appropriate for the way we played. Congrats to Josey for winning it but I'd feel better if there were no trophy's awarded to Iowa. It just didn't feel like we deserved any.
 
He had 14 tackles, 7 solo that's a pretty good game. Desmond King would also have been a good choice on the defensive side of the ball.

King would have won it but Kirk was ****** at King for flattening him on the sideline and marking up his face.
 
A football with a big hole in it for a trophy? Somehow seems fitting for the way the defense played.

Congrats to JJ.

In breaking news Kirk; Brian and Steven Ferentz also were awarded something called the Ferentz Trophy. It recognizes excellence in the field of Bartastic Dominance. Together with JJ's commode we now have a full trophy case. The future is indeed bright.
 
Too bad those tackles were all 15 yards down field... I heard they averaged like 13 yards per play in the first quarter. Without even having a 3rd down to convert... Just insane... Poor kid that's a pretty uncomfy spot to be in there.

I was thinking the same thing. Certainly it isn't meant to denigrate the fact that he personally might have had a good or great game. Or maybe he just had the best game of anyone on a team that was bad that day and they had an award to give out. But anyway you cut it, it is rather funny to have an MVP of a game for a team that was as bad as we were that day. And considering how many points the D gave up, it is even more interesting that a defensive player could have been our MVP. I guess that also is indicative of how bad the offense was.
 
I am not going to argue against Josey Jewell winning this because he did play well, but if it were to go to an offensive player Brandon Scherff would be a good choice. He was destroying whomever Tennessee had lined up across from him all game long. Lots of the long run plays in the second half were behind him. I Wonder why there is not both an offensive and defensive MVP for this.

Scherff was going against a true freshman stud. Kid was Freshman All American. Didn't hurt that the Vols were playing 2nd and 3 stringers in the 4th quarter.

Did think Canzerri was the star. Josey didn't even start did he?
