Congrats to CJB: Co- Big Ten Player of the Week

I think the most impressive thing about CJ so far are his misses. He's missing on the right side of receiver away from the defenders and he's throwing it away when he has no options without unnecessary risk. He's really played like an experienced QB. With the pressure he was under at ISU...he didn't throw a pick in that first half. Pretty impressive. He's going to start getting more and more comfortable too...as his confidence continues to grow. Will there be hiccups...sure...but KF is right...he's really matured over the past year.

As one of those guys that was skeptical I've been pleasantly surprised at his ability and maturity the past 2 games. So far he looks like he's been starting for quite some time and has the other 10 in the huddle believing in him. I'll be the first to admit that I questioned those wanted him to replace JR last year, but it wasn't because I didn't think he had the potential, but rather the fact that I hadn't seen enough of him to say he deserved to start and had proved to be head and shoulders above JR. I just didn't think he'd separated himself as the better QB. Definitely think he's there now and always willing to admit when I'm wrong.

He is a difference maker.........better wheels, better arm, threw well on the run, and doesn't seem to telegraph throws so much. With two nice runs, escaping the potential safety, and good all round performance in a tight game I question whether we would have this win with Rudock at the helm.

VandeBerg gets an honorable mention for a strong supporting perfomance in assisting Bethard all day in key situations.......Ed Hinkel II

The question was never whether anyone had seen enough of Beathard. It was that most had definitely seen enough of Rudock.

I saw him walking up and down the sidelines congratulating his teammates. Guy makes big play after big play on the field to win the game then takes the time to give props individually to the team. He's a leader. 10-2.

I just watched the game again. I remembered all the big plays he made but he also converted quite a few 3rd downs by throwing into tight windows.

After watching it again I was also shocked at how many plays Vandeberg made. I knew he had a big game but he had quite a few tough clutch catches. I know it's a joke about no middle grounds on the internet. But is this guy going to go from fan target to fan favorite?

CJ made some NFL throws Saturday and his WR's made some great catches too. Love seeing that deep ball work.

THIS........Quad City is spot on, here.

C.J. Beathard has the most 'NFL like arm' that Hawkeye fans have seen, since...........well IDK.

And.............C.J. was playing, on Saturday, without his 2 best Pass catching Tight Ends. (Duzey and Kittle)

That being said, Vandeberg, Canzeri and McCarron were really great at Lames.

He really needs to raise this part of his game, though. After his two TD passes, he was sprinting towards the end-zone to congratulate someone, and in both cases he misjudged the movement of the celebratory scrum and ended up running around like a chicken with his head cut off. Gotta tighten that up.
