CONFIRMED! Adam Shada has been reincarnated as Riley Moss

Exactly. If you have to not blitz AND double team, you are basically playing 10 vs. 9 IF we have no one free, because our 2 are going to take out their 1 (one would hope) but somewhere there is an open man and they will exploit it by having an extra receiver open or an extra blocker and they'd run it down our throats. Brohm was calling plays from the LOS after he read our defense. That would have been like preschool for him.

Also, I thought OJ did a nice job today. Would like to see him get another chance.
Ojemudia should have subbed in after the first of many times Moss got burned. Nothing against the kid but he’s not ready to play man coverage in the Big Ten.

Remember, OJ came in last year after Rugamba got burned several times and looked good as well. Maybe we should start Moss and bring OJ in on the 2nd play of the game. Some are better when they come out of the bullpen. ;)

Moss had a really rough day, but the only time he was truly burned was on the slant route TD. And that was more about bad technique(and why he was pulled). The 2 long tds he was in pretty good position, was pushed off on the first and the 2nd was simply a perfect pass/catch.

That said, I wouldn't have minded seeing OJ a little earlier as well.

Miller seems angry that people dared to say that Riley Moss couldn't defend anyone today. I mean...what else can you say about that performance? Sure he'll get better, but he was terrible today. You're not supposed to say that now?

So.....

Your suggestion would be we play zone against Knox and Moore? That makes zero sense. I love Phil Parker but not having two serviceabyDBs on the field issue responsibility. This is a P5 team. You don’t compete with guys that can only play zone. That’s NAIA ball.

MSU zoned Purdue...

And yea i i thought moss has been pretty impressive for a feshmen. But Phil was crazy to have him 1 on 1 vs that talent

Miller is getting rather condescending and self-righteous in his old age. It's difficult to listen to his podcasts anymore.

What the F else are you going to do?

Not blitz and let Blough have a half hour to throw? Look what he did having to deal with a blitz.

Your job as a Big Ten coach is to have 2 capable DBs out there. If you don’t, someone either failed coaching or recruiting.

You're supposed to get pressure with your front 4.

NFL teams play a majority of zone even against the most dynamic offensive teams.

Man coverage on an island obviously did not work. We can thank hindsight for that nugget. It was an aggressive game plan though and I really won't blame a coach for that until post season. For me personally the regular season is the exact time to throw haymakers.

The crazy thing is Moss, like Shada, would always have close coverage, but, like Shada, wouldn’t look for ball, or look at wrong time, mistime jump, grab at last second to get PI, etc. snakebit, and things kept snowballing.
