I read an article in the Orlando,Fl. newspaper last week while down there getting my son an apartment that suggested the conference officials where protecting there "cash cow" in last weeks Florida game. The article made several examples a couple from last weeks Florida/Arkansas game and from games in the past where Florida got very favorable calls and even phantom calls that preserved or helped lead to wins over lesser opponents. Football is the only sport I know that uses conference officials as I believe even basketball uses regional officials that work several conferences during the season. As you know all the bowl games usually use officials not tied to either particiapants conference and is usually pointed out by the announcers and most major non-conference games the visiting team usually demand that there officials are used for the game, not sure how it works if played at a neutral sight.
My question is do you think it is time for major college football goes to regional officials and do away with the conference affiliations?
