Concerning Hampton/Bernstin Sighting right before game yesterday

20 minutes before kick off yesterday I was on my way to kinnick and decided to stop and get a turkey leg. As soon as i purchased the leg and turned around who walks right past me but , Jordan Berstine, Jewel Hampton (Heavy Limp), and Albert Young ( Drinking a beer (Plays for vikes off week)). They Walked right past me and all turned into the area that used to be "the magic Bus". it is some other club now.

I thought this was rather concerning considering that both Jewel and Bernstine are current players. Even if they are injured, wouldn't u think they are supposed to be on the sideline or at the game? I did not see them drinking at all or doing anything else, just walking by. But still aren't they supposed to be with the team?

Thoughts?

When guys are injured and not dressed ... they often end up just watching the game in the stands.

You have no reason to be concerned.

It would be a bigger deal if either guy were uber-experienced and, thus, their "sagely" advice would be of great help to their fellow players on the sideline. In contrast, Bernstine has yet to have a career start and Hampton is still an underclassman.

Again, I have no worries about this.

That's what I thought. Stanzi was on the sidelines last year, but he also needed to help Vandenberg out, so that's an obvious place to have an exception. Bernstine and Jewel are/were not 1st string players.

Why has Bernstine fell so far in the depth chart when before his ankle break in 09 he was suppose to see significant playing time if not actually start?

Now he's fell so far he is not even on the sidelines? He is not even 2nd string?

Bernstine is injured ... tweaked knee, if memory serves. He's second string for us at BOTH SS and CB. I expect that he'll have a decent shot to win a starting safety gig in 2011. However, I'm also certain that Tanner Miller will not be a pushover and just hand him the spot either.

No thoughts at all, really a non issue.

My first thought here: They are hangin' with/helping entertain a current NFL player. Why be uptight they were not on the sidelines at that point? JH needs a mental pick-me-up, and I can't imagine spending the day with a guy who is currently playing in the NFL at his position isn't just that.

Further, did they go sideline or stadium when the game was in progress or did they hang out outside? I honestly do not know the answer to that question. I'm asking.

Honestly, If I'm on the coaching staff, I would give guys a leave of absence from the sidelines once in a while so they could have a chance to be regular student.

Hampton's gone through a lot. If it's any sort of consolation for him to hang out with Albert Young, then that's fine by me.

Besides...he's not a captain or anything. What's he going to tell ARob that he doesn't already know? He's presumably got less starting experience than Robinson anyway.

I'm sure they were back watching the game from the sidelines once it got going. Unless they were doing something illegal, I wouldn't be concerned.

When players are injured the do not stay with the team in CR on Friday and aren't part of any pregame with the team, they show up and watch the game from the sideline and that is it. It surprised me as well to learn, but that seems to be the way it is.
