Concern with the team going forward

Marble's averaging just under 18.0 PPG since B1G play started. We played 4 Power Conference teams in OOC, he went for 22.5 in those. In 7 post-season games he's averaged 20.4 including two single-digit efforts. On the more consistent basis of things he really dominated those games.

Yes, this is somebody you can expect to play well late in the season and against the best competition he faces.

This is correct, it isn't like Marble is getting all his points in the blowout against the cupcake teams. He logged under 20 min. for these games. UNC-Will, MD-E-Shore, UTEP (he got 21 min.), Fair Dickinson, AR-Pine-Bluff. In those game he Avg. 8 PPG, because he didn't play much, and he simply wasn't even looking to score. He has brought it fairly consistently against the top competition. Of course he had a few off games, but that happens to everyone.

If high-quality opposition focuses on taking RDM out of the game, they can do it. This is why I think Gatens faded down the stretch. What I'm hoping for Marble, is that he then makes plays for others.

I'm not seeing the evidence. Entering last year he was our unquestioned leader, which lead to an abysmal start. Since Iowa started 3-6 last season efforts to limit him have been stymied. Basically the book became "Let him shoot, hope he goes 7-19, and BTW he will turn the ball over". They can't do that anymore with the emergence of Gesell as a legitimate point guard. Basically what I'm getting at here is that every time opponents find a way to stop him he finds another way for them to stop him less. I can't wait to see more games with him focusing on moving without the ball more while Gesell finds a way to hit him for the shot.

So far, history has shown that he has found a way around defensive lockdowns. If the question was can he go on consistent scoring runs, the answer has become 18 PPG with an impressive Gesell rapport starting to pick up steam.

Good points and I'll give those games. I guess I'm referring more to winning on a last second shot or in the final 2 possessions. Do we HAVE to have one of those in a season? No. But I'd feel a lot better heading into tournament play knowing we have the ability.

Personally, I'd like to see more of the "big play ability" at the end of games out of White. I think he has all the tools to do it. But he seems to hold back at times (could be because he's surrounded by about 8-9 other good players).

Fair enough. We have a few games left to see if this happens. :)

I'm not too worried about this team either. They have the talent and variety of depth to match up with any team in the country. Even against Syracuse. I don't like that match up but I dislike it a lot less after the shooting display the team put on Saturday.
