Compare the Bios

Gotta say. More and More I am getting psyched at the Woods for Kacs switch.

When you compare the two bios, it really makes no sense that Kacs was given the Iowa dline coaching position, unless he just played the GOBN game well, or KF was feeling a little nostalgic for his HS alma mater. Also, doesn't have anything in that bio that says community guy or someone who will build roots in the IC community. Basically, it was a really lucky break KF gave the guy.

If you look at Woods' bio, he looks like a perfect fit for coaching on the Iowa defense. Defensive MVP at Iowa, wife has developed a business in IC, ex multi-year NFL player, runs youth camps in the state with KVB, special teams standout, INSANE RECORD OF COMMUNITY SERVICE!, been involved in developing scouting information for the team for the last couple of years.

Did they announce Woods as the new Dline coach? I would love this hire if they did.

Not the way KF is going to do it. However, Woods has been announced as the DL coach replacement for the Insight. But I see it as basically a foregone conclusion that Woods will be on staff when the whole thing breaks down. Really, after looking at his bio, he is the most exciting of the different options being discussed.

Personally if Woods is the long term solution at DLine...I believe we're going to be in loads of trouble down the road a few years...

Have anything in particular to back up these concerns? I don't know anything about his coaching. So, if you have information, enlighten us.

However, I am also not saying that he would need to be the Dline guy. Heck, I would kind of be psyched if they gave him all the special teams responsibilities. Lord knows Iowa has been lacking in that department the last few years.

"Throughout his playing career, Woods teamed with fellow NFL player Kyle Vanden Bosch (both are natives of Larchwood, IA) in hosting a youth football camp in their hometown. During his stint with the Cardinals, Woods was recognized with the Byron "Whizzer" White Award and was a Walter Payton Man of the Year finalist.

Woods has been involved with several charitable organizations throughout his career, including the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids foundation, Homeward Bound, Soup Kitchen, Youth Christmas shopping trips and, Milk and Cookies Youth Reading Program, along with speaking engagements to elementary school children. He remains involved with the Allied Athlete Group Foundation in Atlanta, GA and the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation. Woods has also been instrumental in developing the Hawkeye Readers youth reading program in conjunction with the Iowa City: UNESCO City of Literature, which helps promote the importance of literacy to children."

I have heard others opinions nothing real specific who knows maybe he will surprise!

Do you have a source for these opinions? Most of the opinions I've seen on here have been positive. I think this is a good hire, he is a young guy, probably a good players coach that can relate to the athletes well. The exciting thing will be that we get to see his "job interview/audition" live in the bowl game.

Any opinions of your own or just going off others?

Wrong.

Woods is from Alvord. Vanden Bosch is from Inwood.

I believe Woods has a chance to be as good a hire as any. He's a very, very good guy, he would represent a little bit of an infusion of youth into the coaching staff, which I believe would help with recruiting, and he's a native Iowan, which will not only help in terms of his passion for the job, but also in his ability to sell recruits on the state of Iowa.

I don't think it ever hurts to have a guy with a NFL resume on your coaching staff. The guy will certainly bring knowledge to the job.

On something like this, you either need to elaborate or just shut up. Not only do you offer sources, you aren't even remotely specific about why we'll be in trouble.

If what you say is true, that is interesting for sure. With that said, I've always been a proponent of people signing off on every word they pen with their real identity....just like they'd have to in real life.

I just feel it would go a long way to ridding us of some of the over the top negativity...but thats just me.
