Out of the 5 players that are visiting this weekend, who do you guys think might commit after they get done with the visit?

Jeremiah Hendy
Dondi Kirby
Mikail McCall
Lafayette Pitts
Armstead Williams

I hope that the teammates commit together this weekend. (Kirby and Williams)

Hendy was already a Maryland commit but will likely decommit because their head coach is headed to Vanderbilt IIRC. He said before that a coaching change could impact his commitment.

I think we get Kirby and Williams, plus McCall since MSU pulled his offer and he'll want to find a seat before the music stops. I'm hopeful on Pitts but I think he wants to give the new staff a fair shot before deciding, and Hendy is a reall tossup.

It said that Hendy re-committed today to Maryland. Is that not true? And if we can get one of the big three (Kirby, Kouandijio, or Coe) I would be happy. Obviously we need LB help, so adding William would help too. I also read today that Nicholas Law is playing LB in the Maryland HS all star game. I wonder if he will stay at safety, or bulk up and move to LEO or WILL at Iowa.

Didn't see that he had re-commited, don't really know what that means. I didn't know he had ever officially decommitted though, so it could be that the website you're referencing just made a mistake in removing his original commitment or something like that. Interesting.

With regard to the big 3 that you list, there's chatter on Twitter (I know, take it for what it's worth) that Coe is a silent commit and will announce at the AAA game. I have a coworker who has been all over his recruitment since day 1 and he was super excited when he heard. He trusts the source but I don't trust any at this point. Kirby will be a Hawkeye. Mark my words on that one. CyKo is an enigma but I'm in the minority that thinks we get him.

Bear in mind that though Williams plays LB, we're recruiting him at WR. He plays both ways. Interesting tidbit on Nico. I hope he stays at safety though, because that's what we need the most right now.

That is all good news from you. I hope your sources are correct. Coe and Kirby would be huge. I am not optimistic on Koumadijo, hopefully having Coker will pull him this direction. And I just saw the commit date on Hendy to Maryland and it said 12/17. So I thought that meant he confirmed he was going there today. I hope you're right and he isnt. We could use that speed. I didnt know we were recruiting Williams as a WR. That seems odd considering he really isnt that fast for a LB, let alone a WR. Thanks for all the info. I am a little more optimistic after hearing we may get Kirby and Coe.

The Williams at WR thing confuses me a lot too. I haven't seen a lot of his film, but they may play him situationally as a possession receiver? Stuff like 3rd and 4-6? Because he's got a big body and can take a hit, but I don't really know where the coaches see him.

Why would someone be a 'silent' commit? What's the pupose in that?

They might want to make an announcement at lets say the AA game, and at the same time they want the Hawkeyes to save that scholarship for them.

Don't know if that is the case......just giving a possible reason.

That's my assumption. I don't really know what would be the benefit outside of that. Either they want to make an announcement at a big game or a signing ceremony at school or...?

IMO i don't think its a benefit to the player. However, if you get intelligent confident players on national TV pulling a cap/helmet out of a bag with a big tiger hawk on it, I think it's good publicity for Iowa. People watch that game and think, man, we've seen X team get so many players today, they must be good.

I don't really think it's a detriment to the player but it sure can be to the team. Imagine we got a silent commit from Coe like a month ago, and we go on like we've got one in the bag, and then last minute he decommits and goes somewhere else we're left out in the cold. But I DO think it's a big benefit for the team and the school to have it happen like that. I was looking for the picture from last year's game with Fiedorowicz, Derby, and Donnal all wearing Hawkeye hats but couldn't find it.
