Column: Iowa Football in Strange Place

Y
In another thread I referred to the Minnesota game as Iowa's Bobby Bowden Moment, the event that triggers a chain of events leading to dismissal or resignation of a coach. It is now up to Kirk to decide if he wants to continue. 2024 is a completely different Big Ten for all sports, winning football games in the conference gets more difficult for the members of the defunct west division. I guess I was sort of right as the axe fell on Brian sooner than most of us expected.

The second half of the Minnesota game was an offensive disaster. Anybody that watched knew the offense was worse in week 8 than it was in week 1. That loss was entirely on the offense. I'm sure it convinced the AD that things had gotten too ugly for her to not address the problem. She had all the evidence needed and mentally said enough is enough. I'm surprised, but I can understand that she has more to do than have Brian Ferentz live rent free in her head.
You nailed it.

It had to happen one way or another. I think the AD and the President come off looking decisive. The Regents also. Now let us hope that Brian gets another chance and succeeds in the long run. But I do not think he has the temperament to be a HC.
Unlike others, you understand that the AD and the President know exactly what they are doing, big donors be damned. End of story.
