Cole sits....

Lickliter said "We want to feed the post, but Brennan is the only one that can do that with any accuracy."

So was Lick firing a shot at Cole today..
He meant that Brennan was the only player that could pass to the post, not receive in the post. More of a shot at the guards than at Cole.

Iowa doesn't give any effort, can't hit any open shots, generally plays like ****, and your main complaint is how many minutes Lickliter gets? C'mon.

When Lil Lick is always the worst player on the floor anytime he steps on it during the game Iowa fans have a right to be ****** at him getting that many minutes period.

I agree Cole probably should have played more, but he played close to awful today too. Sims was beating him on the boards like a red headed step child. It was just one of those games that was over when the Hawks got in the arena. Nobody had a good game with the exception of maybe Fuller. Gatens hasn't really shown up for the last weeks worth of games. If he is our best player, like most people seem to think, he needs to play like it and score more than 6 to 8 points a game. He needs to be our go to guy and play like it. Just a bad day all around. Live to play another day.

Playing with a severely sprained ankle has a substantial effect on one's ability to play. He plays for the toughness, the poise, and balance,...plus who is better than Gatens.

I have to wonder if a athletic 6'9" shot blocker could have made any difference today, as well as gain valuable experience for next year.

Well I just watched the replay. Unfortunately the game turned out the same the second time around. Couple of observations about Cole and his playing time. Of course this is all my opinion

1) Cole was gassed. I think the Ohio State game took alot out of the kids. It was only 72 hours ago, and they played their hearts out.

2) Tonight was the worst defense I have seen Cole play all year. He was constantly trying to swipe at the ball and giving up on the plays. Sign of tired legs. I am glad they sat him. We need fresh legs for the Illini.

3) I think the same goes for Cully he was a step slow today from tip off.

4) If we would have scored two points for everytime we hit the front of the rim tonigh we would have won by 20. Another sign of tired legs.

A loss on the road against a hungry veteran team. Not a big deal. Our freshman got valuable time together in the second half.

On the positive side: Eric May is going to be a lock down defender. He is doing a very nice job against the Big Ten's best.
