Cody Sokol..

After watching that Bowl game it is clear that Sokol was the 3rd best. JR and CJ are both miles better than him. To bad KF refused to implement an offense suited for this century, cause if he did this Iowa team could have won 10 games.

This. As much as people want to rip on KF and JR, they're just throwing darts on this one. Sokol's just not that good. He's got a rifle, but the sights are not lined up. He also has little ability to put any kind of touch on the ball, making the balls he throws less catchable.

Can't make a comparison based on one game.

Luckily we have an entire season. Better record, better stats. Plus what we all saw in the Iowa spring sessions. Plus what we saw when Sokol fumbled and then got the ball back. The apologists can never admit it but Jake would not (and could not) do that. Jake is a smart, well behaved kid with the proper desire, god bless him. And he'll be very successful in life. but Sokol and CJ have the raw talent; toughness and a few other intangibles.

I think Sokol's best play was indeed the fumble recovery. Nice hustle by him. But he's not better than JR from the eye test. The argument of "better record, better stats" is pretty easily rebuttable. He played in a conference with worser defenses than which JR played against and played in an offensive system that called on him to pass more and thus put up better stats.

Not a big fan of the hitch in his throwing motion either.

I'm no JR apologist either. I'd put it CJB > JR > CS

If JR was not the starter, then it would surely be CJB, not Sokol. Sokol would still not be playing any appreciable time; therefore, still probably transferring.....IMHO.

It appears Sokol wanted to try a power 5 conference team, didn't work out and moved to a mid level team for playing time.

Appears to be not worth all the mashing of teeth.
