I'm not one to rag on the coaches, but I really think this loss is on their shoulders. Why?

1. Clock Management - If you're going to call a timeout, you have to have a game plan after a first down. Spike it or run a play. The extra timeout would have allowed one last chance.

2. Punt return - for how conservative our coaching staff is (not a bad thing - tend to agree most of the time with our talent vs. the rest)...but why not leave the defense on the field and let the punt roll?

With this helpfrom our staff, we sneak by. With this poor management in addition to our poor special teams play...we're lucky the game was that close. Kudos to our offense on a great day.

I agree with one but I think most of the reason we lost was poor execution. having the extra punt blocked and not getting the hold right for the FG was crucial and if those would have gone our way things would probably be different right now.

One thing I noticed was no pressure on the Wisky QB in the 4th. Wisky's Oline pretty much dominated and we could not get pressure on the QB. I know that Iowa does not blitz because we can usually get pressure with our front 4 but the coaches should have noticed no one was getting pressure and done some CB blitzes or something to rattle the QB. When Tolzein had time to throw he did very well.

Being realistic here. The rest of the season is going to be very tough, I wouldn't be real surprised if the Hawks lost 2 more but do not get down on this team and remember to cheer hard for the seniors. Clayborn, Hunter, Stanzi, DJK, Ballard, Klug, and Greenwood have been great to us and very fun to watch. Enjoy the rest of the season and enjoy Iowa football! This is the greatest time of the year.

On that note I'm out, everyone have a great weekend!
