Clown Blood Flowing Freely Tonite Game Thread

The refs didn't cost Iowa this game. In fact, by letting both teams play through obvious fouls in the 1st half that actually favored Iowa because ISU is a quicker team that drives more to the basket. In the 2nd half the refs called a much tighter game, which favored ISU -- but only because ISU repeatedly got past Iowa defenders on drives. Iowa players couldn't drive past ISU players in the 2nd half -- thus the foul disparity.

ISU is simply a more talented team this season, and Jefferson was the best player on the court tonight, by far. Considering those facts, Iowa played a helluva game on the road vs a Top 10 rival. Just came up a little short.

McCollum knows ball. Super impressed by Iowa. So many times in the first half Iowa was able to scheme experienced players into traps. Got Iowa State playing the Hawkeyes game. A lot to look forward to with this group and this staff.

Single digit loss? Weak sauce Big Ten? Honestly, could be a really good season.
^^^This big time^^^
Just checked in on the final score. Really pleased that it was as close as it was. We bear these bitch at home because we all know how ISU always gets the majority of the calls at home.

The wife wanted to go watch a professional presentation of “Cirque du Soleil” down town Salt Lake City. That wasn’t cheap.

I recorded the game and will watch tomorrow or the next day.

“Favored Iowa” to let Iowa State absolutely mug Stirtz anytime he touched the ball? The clowns had like 2 fouls in the first 25 mins of the game. Iowa shot a total of 5 free throws while only shooting 15 3’s. Total bullshit given how aggressive and handsy the clowns were. Jefferson could’ve and should’ve been charged with a couple offensive fouls in the first 5 mins of the game. Early 2nd half Jefferson got an and 1 on a phantom Koch foul that completed the momentum swing. This wasn’t as bad as thug ball at Sparty last week but it wasn’t far off.

Well shit... we just don't have enough horses. What impressed me was being in that game with Stirtz being all but taken out of it. If you told me Stirtz was going to have 10 pts going into it I'd say we lost by 25 plus. So hey they played really tough in as crazy of an environment as their is.

Defense is great and all but we gotta be able to find ways to score more and not turn it over so damn much. That was pretty sloppy overall. Our front court held up better then I thought. Cam and Banks both played well. Koch didn't do much though he's gotta do more then that. 5 pts and 0 rebs for a starting forward... That doesn't cut it.

This team just doesn't have much shooting and they refuse to play Hausen so it just is what it is I guess. It was fun seeing us frustrate ISUs offense as much as we did. But damn it 62 pts isn't going to win us any basketball games. Stirtz is a good player. But from what I've seen I don't think he's quite all he's been cracked up to be. Despite the iron man way that he's used he gets tired. He goes lots of possessions where he doesn't even touch the ball and stands in the corner. Maybe resting him periodically like other players would benefit him and the team both... Just sayin

After watching the Maryland and ISU games I think the Hawks will definitely be .500 in conference and possibly over .500. For BMC's first year with a team of MVAC players that's fine with me. He'll get better and he's a player's coach like Fran so I don't worry about him getting good players here. I'll take him over DeVries any day. DeVries is gonna hate life in Indiana and I suspect he'll be telling his wife to start scrolling Zillow in 3-4 years. Which is ok because I've never heard anyone who's met the guy not say he was a gigantic dickhead.

Hopefully they get stomped by Kentucky tomorrow night. It'd be nice to do that on national TV with Dicky V and Charles Barkley calling the game.
