Clayborn's 'Only team in state' comment makes ISU Locker Room

For the record, better teams get upset every week simply because the underdog was more motivated and fired up then their opponent. Literally, every week in college football a major underdog rises up to beat a heavy favorite...a key part of why that happens is motivation.

Hicks is actually quite talented, and moves very well...and weighs less than that. Those weights are from last year...not updated on the new roster. He's a very good player though not as good as Haughton, certainly.

Not worried...

Sorry, just not.

In years past when I've been worried about this game(see 2008 and 2009) I would have no trouble admitting it.

I'm just not worried about it...I think we have a substantial advantage in talent, and its a 2:30 kickoff in kinnick.

I like our chances, very much. In fact, I would go as far to say I wouldn't be shocked if we win by more than 17

If it were in Lames, I would still like our chances but probably a much closer game.

It warms my heart when I hear Iowa fans say they aren't worried about this game. Brings back memories of those wonderful years in the early 2000's...and of the great Iowa team of 2002 in Iowa City that year.

What about the 20 years before that where every year they said they weren't worried and then Iowa went out and housed ISU? You had a good run. It's over. It will be back to 6 out of 8 after Sept. 11. Get over it.

HAHA! I remember sitting and watching that gif for about 30 min straight once. It never gets old.Hilarious choice of words for Parker there.

Interesting how you guys love that hit, but thought Leonard Johnson's hit on Moeaki in IC a few years ago that cost ISU the game was "dirty" and deserved to be called a penalty?

Amazing how that works? There was nothing different between the two. Yanda lowers his head too, but leads with the shoulder... just like LJ did.

It's just interesting how fans of opposing teams can view things differently.

Good point...It's all about which team you root for. I'm sure there are Northwestern fans (all both of them) who are laughing their a$$es off right now about the helmet to helmet hit on Shonn Greene in 2008.

I didn't have a problem with either hit.

One got called a penalty, so obviously someone besides an Iowa fan thought it was dirty.

Hey Travis, how about that game in 1898?

I mean, if we're talking ancient history why not go ALL THE WAY back?

Don't know about you, but I'm talking about the Ferentz era...you know...the current era that Iowa is in.

Yanda's hit was nowhere near illegal. It would have been called if it was even close due to the reaction by the fans right away. LJ's hit was a bang bang play and it was close. Either way, he was in position to make the correct play and not have it be a questionable hit. He had it lined up and he went high....dumb. He could have made a great play and maybe turned the momentum of the game. I would not call it a dirty play because they are moving so fast, but I would call it dumb for trying for the spectacular knockout rather than a nice solid tackle.

Ohhhh ok cool. So we're just going to stick with current coach's era. Cool. Thanks for the clarification.

Iowa 1
ISU 0

Exactly, 1-0. And we all know, one game...by definition...does not make a trend. Now when we look at the KF era....then we get a clear trend of a highly competitive series. But by all means, don't let that fact get in the way of your opinion.

Dan McCarney could beat Iowa but he had to gear everything towards accomplishing that goal. He treated it like the SuperBowl.
If Rhoades does the same thing, he will have some success as well. He will also have problems in the B12 because of it, just like Dan did.
Pick your poison, I guess.

So ISU gets 3 different HCs to pit against KF? Is that what you are trying to do?
You're the one defining the series by KFs tenure, not me. So how could I let that fact get in the way of an OPINION I dont have nor would have?
I will choose to express my own opinion by my own guidelines, thank you very much. I am 40 yrs old and began watching Iowa FB in 1980. So that is the era I choose to include in MY OPINION.
Now, do you want me to post the numbers on that era?
Didnt think so.

What's also interesting is that two years later, Cyclone fans are still crying about it, and that it was a Big 12 official who threw the flag.

But, nobody in this thread had mentioned LJ knocking himself TFO until you did, so good job. Yay?

No you don't. You get the impression that Dan McCarney's teams were competitive. Rhoads...not so much.

I love how ISU fans are the ones that always set the trend timeline. It's so cute.

Yeah, I love it when they drop tho old "7 out of the last 12" stat. Seriously? When did we start going back 12 years? Isn't there a more concrete number? 10? 15? 5? Where the **** does 12 come from? Bending math to prove a point is retarded...which pretty much describes 95% of the ISU fan base.
