Clayborn

SI also has Ballard in the first round:

22. Christian Ballard/DL/Iowa: Ballard is a sleeping giant in this draft. The athletic lineman tormented opponents the past two seasons from both the defensive end and tackle positions. He moves his 300-pound frame around the field like a linebacker and offers potential in a variety of defensive systems.

:eek::eek:
I knew many Hawk fans thought this, but I didn't think the national media had picked up on that. He is incredibly athletic for his size. good luck to him.

And it is nice to see that AC didn't have any stock drop with his lower numbers this year than last. He probably would have been late 1st round last year.

With Clayborn's pathetic effort given for a lot of the season I wish he would drop to the second or third round just to show him that he actually still has to play hard after one great season. I am calling it now that Clayborn is a bust in the NFL. He has shown this year that when he has some success that he spends more time reading his own press than he does trying to get better. I am a huge Hawks fan and my only reason for not wishing for him to fall even further is that it is still always good for the program to have the Iowa Hawkeyes mentioned in the first rounds on draft day.

Tell your girlfriend I said hi.

Looks like he has the Titans taking another DE that was dominated by the Iowa OLine in Smith from Mizzou as they took Morgan from GT last year in the 1st round. Almost carbon copies of each other. Undersized, athletic, and fast....O'Yeah, neither had a sack against the Hawkeyes in their respective bowl games. I feel sorry for the Panthers if they take Gabbert, he is not NFL ready nor do I think he is much of an upgrade besides his arm over Clausen.

I love all the criticism of Clayborn this year.

After watching clips of last year and this year, I firmly believe that he was injured most of the year. Clayborn did not show the burst of speed or power he showed last year. I think it was the type of injury that seriously limited his effectiveness, but did not prevent him from playing.

Of course, Iowa wouldn't announce the injury because they wanted the opposition to double & triple team him every week.

I first began suspecting something wasn't right in the Arizona game. Last year, Clayborn would have destroyed that overweight, fat *** tackle opposite him.

Nothing substantive, but watching video from last year, Clayborn just wasn't the same player.

If Clayborn was secretly injured all year, why didn't he ever get better? How can a player be injured so lightly that he plays every game, but is ineffective for most of them. Why didn't he recover in the 6 weeks leading to the bowl? Clayborn had zero impact in that game.

You're a complete a-hole. Why would you wish bad on anyone? Do you know he was injured most of the year? Did you do bad things to animals and insects when you were a child? I hope he flourishes in the pro's and is another Hawkeye that will be a proud representative of the University.

It is still amazing to me that amateur posters on this board pretend to know more than NFL scouts getting paid big bucks to evaluate talent. The NFL knows that Clayborn can play. He only had 9 fewer tackles this year as compared to last year (check the statistics). His tackles for loss were down because teams consistently ran away from him. Last year he had two NFL linebackers playing behind him. This year: freshmen and former benchwarmers.

To say that he made no difference in the Missouri game is simply wrong. On the play where Hyde intercepted, it was pressure applied by Adrian that forced Gabbert into the poor throw. Clayborn made that play happen. Study the replay carefully and you will see it.

He will have a long, successful pro career. Bet on it.

WOW...just WOW...whether you are a troll or not. I have some personal history with Adrian. Not a nicer guy with kids, adults, anyone. Gave up big signing bonus last year to come back and get a degree, it was important to him and his mom. Adrian has played hurt most of the season, been double, hell even triple teamed this year. My step brother is a financial advisor for many high end NFL guys, Suh, Raiola, Kelsey to name a few...Suh did a big fundraiser in Omaha for Muscular dystrophy and he wanted my step brother to get Adrian to come to it...his words were, "I want to meet this guy he is one of the few guys I will tape and watch play...I love his upside at the next level. I would like to be his mentor."
First class in my book...all the way! Thanks Adrian...
Norm was on record saying Adrian has everything the NFL wants...size and speed. Watch how he test at the combines...it will be scary...especially after Doyle gets him ready!

I think AC goes to Indy in the low 20s. Not a bad spot to be and ANgerer can play behind AC again

Because of his versatility Ballard would probably be a better fit for the Steelers than Clayborn. Given that Pittsburgh will pick late in the 1st round and 3/4 of their d-linemen are older than dirt it would be a nice spot for CB. Let Kiesel/Smith groom him before they retire in a couple of years.
