CJFED breakout year?

We've talked and talked about CJFED since he walked on campus. We had huge expectations for him as we posted about sasquatch-esk (spelling) sightings of how big his guns were as he zoomed by on his hog, err scooter (beep beep). Does he finally have the year we have expected from him? What do we expect? At the end of the day will he be the guy that looks good in the uniform (tour not in the pros yet says KF) or does he break out this year?

Yeah, I forgot, there goes that thread. No one has a breakout year with three yard outs. My bad. Disregard.

CJ, took a couple years learning what it took to play TE in the BT. He admitts as much. I thought he was really coming on at the end of last year. Hope he finishes strong

And we are all waiting for that breakout year. I am hopeful, he did have decent productivity last year. This new system may impede what could have been his year. We will see

Is CJ-FED related to K-FED? Wait a minute ... C-FED claims he fathered Brit-milf's son.

Holy crap! Another scandal under Kurk's watch. Hope it doesn't distract him from having a breakout year.

I sure hope he has an outstanding season, why wouldnt we want anything less. He seems to have all the tools except he seems a little slow and has the occasional drop .

But maybe the slowness was a function of not being sure about option routes and maybe some drops were a lack of concentration because of whatever reasons and he can overcome both of these.

It's his senior year. Usually breakout years come before that. This would be what was expected of him. Wouldn't call it a breakout year, would call it his "finally doing what he should be doing year."

I think they'll make a concerted effort to get him the ball alot. He'll be targeted alot with whatever new qb gets the job. Hopefully they'll get to the redzone enough to use him down there.

Most exaggerated expectations were from fans who didn't understand anything about CJF except that he was highly rated and highly recruited. Most thought he would come in and dominate because of his size. Which was what alot of recruiting analysts were pinning his ratings/rankings on. But he was used as a WR in HS and he never had to put any effort in at all, mainly because of his size and strength.

CJF said that his first year he was learning how to play TE and actually blocking, not just catching the ball. Coaches were even talking about how he didn't know how to get down into a 3 point stance on the line. Iowa primarly lines up TEs down on the line unlike standing up as a WR like CJF did most of his young career. He also admitted that before last season he didn't put in the time he should have. Last season he dropped way too many catchable balls, however it was a horrible season all around.

I hope he can have a year where everything comes together and plays to his potential, not the potential others felt he SHOULD have played up too. I do understand how learning the position would have slowed his development to the college level but clearly his "lack of effort" in his first two years were what hurt him the most.

Good explenation, You nailed Dave
