CJB Final 2 Drives: 6 of 8 72 yds, 3 carries 26 yds

I don't know what's crazier. Thinking we would be 1-2 if Kirk didn't make the switch. Or thinking about what our record would have been if he made the switch when he should have.

I don't understand the dislike for Rudock. He isn't a bad player. He put in a lot of time and helped Iowa win many games, NW OT 2013 and some last year too.
Yes I've wanted CJ to play since the ISU game last year, but there is the chance that CJ just wasn't as good as Rudock last year. It is possible he would have lost as many games as he won for Iowa. There is really no way to tell.

No way to tell with 100% certainty. But all evidence last year and this year makes it pretty obvious.

We know things my contrast. We've been numbed to sleep gradually not noticing what quality QB play means to a teams success. Now we see it clearly. This QB is making plays consistently. And it is making a huge difference.

I think...I think....Iowa may have a good chance to get to Indy this year. A better chance than in the past...but we see it now in a new way. Not a certainty by any means, but It is possible and realistic.

While I have seen posts that fall into the description of not liking Jake, those are not that numerous. The posts in this thread are not about disliking JR; they are about what we see on the field.

If CJB is not the QB it is a safe argument to say that Iowa loses vs Pitt and ISU. The dude simply makes plays that JR could not.

A lot of people said last season and off-season CJ is a difference-maker. Miller said repeatedly that with JR Iowa probably goes 5-7 or 6-6. With CJ, there is a higher ceiling of flipping a couple of those games.

Three games into the season = two games flipped.

Might be able to come up with another one or two?

That's true. He can extend series thus give our defense a break. When you can extend the series the more points you will possibly score. That is the difference of winning and losing. Hence, Iowa is now 3-0.

I rewatched the game and was surprised at how many 3rd and longs we converted. Last year was an automatic punt if it was 3rd and longer than 8 or so. We also kept 2 drives going where we had holding penalties. Those never happened last year. Our offense was incapable of hetting 20 yards on 3 downs.

I guess I just don't understand why people have to keep comparing them. It just feels negative to me, though I suppose it doesn't have to. I also don't believe in saying this or that would happen as everything would be different. The game calling, which players emerge and in game situations would be completely different.
I do believe CJ is better, but it is possible, possible mind you, we could be sitting at 3-0 with Jake. The ISU game I thought that had Iowa not made so many mistakes on defense in the first half it is likely ISU only puts up 7 or so points. In the Pitt game maybe he wouldn't throw a pick and the punt isn't blocked. Though these scenarios are unlikely, well you never know. There have been many, many changes made by the staff this summer.
