CJ to T Smith in Champ Game last year

I still get goose bumps and total adrenaline rush watching that play unfold. Such a huge quick strike and Gus Johnson goes wild. I know it didnt win the game but it almost felt that way at the time. That play has to rank with Tate to Holloway, Long to Moritz in '83 or '84 to beat OSU at home, Stanzi to McNutt to knock off MSU in '09, and some of the last second FGs to win games.

What other plays like this jump out to you as sort of a list to lead us up to the bowl game. Oh yes, Banks to Clark twice late to beat Purdue in '02.

That play was at the end zone where I was sitting, shut that loud mouth MSU fan up, and his girlfriend with the big green #1 finger, until, well, I really don't wanna bring that up . ...great play, great pass and catch, Gus Johnson is great, lots of energy in his voice...

The KR for a TD to start the 2002 Orange Bowl against USC. I was literally standing on my seat. I was in the end zone we scored in on that play.

Such a great start to a game that ended so horribly.

Loved that...if their DB doesn't hold Vandenburg to save a touchdown...we would have had the pleasure of getting throttled by Alabama, rather than Stanford. Same result, but I wouldn't have had to listen to the Stanford band rub it in.

I just watched a highlight tape of Beathard from 2015. First of all, I know they are highlights, but he had some nice pockets and time to throw last year. Geez, that sticks out like a sore thumb. The second issue is that I think his knee is worse than maybe the team lets on. He's so much quicker...and it's not even close.

I think Deace made great point in the Nebby podcast. We are going to find out exactly what was going on with him based on how the NFL scouts evaluate him. The first sign will be if he is even invited to the combine or not.

It was awesome...and then 22 plays happened. If we hold that last drive, the play goes down as a historic play in history. As it is though....it's a tough one. Not only because of the way things ended, but because we almost never see the long play....

It's the throw that TS apparently lost in the lights that stings. It would have made it 20-9.....dagger in the heart.

Had Iowa held MSU on that last drive, that TD would have, and should have, gone down as the most important individual play in the history of the program.

Instead its a cool memory with a heartbreaking ending.

Where has T Smith been all year? I haven't heard anything about him.

On the Colts. Was recently promoted from practice squad to active roster but hasn't seen the field yet. Colts have Hilton, Moncrief, Dorsett, and a few other guys in front of him. He has a chance to play though.

I remember freaking out after that td and thinking we are going to win. Then I saw there was still like 8-9 minutes left in the game and my heart sank.

It's disqualified as an Iowa great play due to the fact that T Smith could have caught a pass later on in the game but instead chose to try to draw a pass interference which wasn't called. I was there

You're combining possessions. That TD was the first play of the 4th qtr. We got them 3 and out on their next possession, and we got the ball back in good field position and had a TD dialed up to MVB until their CB held him. It was then that we punted and 22 plays happened...
