To my knowledge, West QB Charlie Rogers is the only senior Iowa is looking at right now. He currently has offers from Minnesota, Iowa State and others, and might earn an Iowa offer if he performs well this year.
Suck in football, but excellent in wrestling, and a good basketball team too. Oh yeah good baseball team also. How did City do against those teams?? Hmmm.... not so good.
City traditionally has had good wrestling - West has only recently come into their own there. BBall is about even - I wouldn't call that one for West. City has 2 or 3 titles. Baseball - who cares?
I'm pretty sure last season West beat City in wrestling, basketball, baseball. City won in football. Advantage West High. But you little hawk fans can be a delusional bunch...
City RB Ronald Thompson set a school record with 362 yards on 37 carries. This is a school that produced Tim Dwight and Rob Thein. He is an absolute beast. Do we have a spot for him at RB? Doubtful, with Malloy already on board and good shots at Garmon at Smith. Would be an absolute steal as a walk-on, though. He also has some "character" issues (think Malloy).
West junior WR Dondre Alexander is an absolute must get for Iowa next year. He will likely be the top prospect in the state and will surely draw major interest.
Charles Rogers is a decent athlete, but it's more likely that Betty White will be next month's Playboy centerfold than it is that he plays QB in college, at any level. He would struggle to hack it at QB at the DIII level. Will make somebody a nice DB, though. Unfortunately, I don't see Iowa having room for him unless we strike out on several higher rated prospects. He has current offers from Minnesota and the Clowns.
