Do you enjoy any of the McMenamins spots? Back in the day, my wife worked at the McMenamins on N.E. Broadway.
Those slackers, hipsters, and beardos = easy money. Trustfunders spend foolishly.Right on. If only Portland wasn't filthy with slackers, hipsters, and beardos, it would be a great place to abide.
Now every time one of them thinks I am looking at them, they drink they raise their glass to their mouth in slow motion. Screw these guys, I am going home.
Yes, I did. I love weirdos.I nevar found "Portlandia" amusing. Evidently you did, OLYMPAPR0NM.
I have always kind of wondered why people without a connection to the city would find it funny. It seems like half the stuff on there is an inside joke. I think the dream of the '90's stuff is funny. The 1990's has some funny lines, but the 1890's is more spot on.I nevar found "Portlandia" amusing. Evidently you did, OLYMPAPR0NM.

I would like to go to an Oregon game with a Skechers tshirt on.Watching the Ducks with a bunch of their fans today. I made them watch Iowa this morning. I feel like a leper.
Good stuff...I once watched a FSU game in Tampa with a group of friends that I had just met that are FSU alums, in exchange for watching an Iowa game earlier that day. This was the Outback Bowl win year for us and FSU was pretty well rated then as well. Those guys fell in love with the Hawks that day and a couple of the ones that I still stay in touch with always still ask "How's Herky doing?" and reiterate that they still root for Iowa. They've been humbled themselves as of late, but it seems the question has been the same every year now, "What's happened to our Hawks?".....I have no answers, but it's nice to know that other fan bases still like us, or at least remember that we still exist.Watching the Ducks with a bunch of their fans today. I love it out here. The summers are an absolute paradise compared to Iowa, and it almost never gets below freezing in the Winter. And having lived in Iowa my whole life, moving to Portland was pretty much like moving to a European city.
Yep, I was born and raised in Iowa and left at 25. Been out in the Olympia area since (talk about hipsters and greeners!). But you're right about the weather.
Most Duck fans are fine, but just like every fan base, you have the knuckleheads. It's a little annoying right now cause they're good and everything is going their way. But I see Washington and Washington State are coming along so I hope they knock Oregon down to size.
But, and I'm being truthful here, I find myself enjoying watching more and more OTHER teams than Iowa now. I am still a fan of Iowa and hope the best . . . but the same old is really getting old. And it IS SLOW. I don't blame them for making fun of our style.

I don't think the show was intended for a wide audience.I have a connection to Portland. The show just isn't funny, with or without "inside" info.

The real problem right now is the waves of homeless that migrate here in the summer. It's like a loony bin downtown from late May to early September. I am hardly scared to be around poverty, but the mix of mental illness and gutterpunk travelers is pretty combustible. But if you are up in the West hills, or pretty much anywhere between the river and 82nd, it's about as good a life as I could wish for.
Thought I'd share this experience as a Hawkeye in Duck country.
*Duck fan moves incredibly slow"
Duck Fan: Hey look at me.
*I look at him moving slowing*
Duck Fan: Guess who I am.
Me: Go **** yourself
Duck Fan: I am an Iowa Hawkeye
It's really weird. Growing up in the Big 10, we think about football traditions. Oregon fans do not give a **** about traditions. Their jerseys change every game, they play flag football offense. They think programs like Iowa are dinosaurs who should be extinct.
