*** Check Your Bank Statements ***

Many different web subscriptions do this. They are betting that a lot of people miss the overcharge or recurring charge on their statements, and I'm sure that many do.

It's a good bet.

True story: at Microsoft in the 90's, the data showed over 1 million MSN subscribers hadn't logged in in over a year, but of course were still being charged monthly. In the launch planning meeting for a new version, a perky young product manager said "we should contact all those people to encourage them to upgrade!" The VP just glared and responded "are you out. of. your. mind? DON'T KICK A SLEEPING DOG."

In their defense, they were (and still are) good about no-questions-asked refunds if you spot the charge and call to complain. Some outfits argue and stick you with the most-recent charge. State attorneys general have put the kibosh on most of that.
