Kyle Meyer's guilty plea for public intoxication has been set aside.* The Hawkeye freshman had entered the plea after being arrested Saturday night.* According to his attorney, Randy Larson, Meyer's charge was amended to Possession of Alcohol Under the Legal Age.

Larson said the amendment was appropriate since Meyer's blood alcohol level taken at the scene was .07 and he wasn't in a public place at the time.

On top of his legal fine, Meyer is set to perform 20 hours of community service under the University of Iowa's code of conduct for students.* Iowa Coach Fran McCaffery said he doesn't plan on punishing Meyer beyond the code of conduct terms.

pretty sure that means he has probably never drank before in his life. to be passed out after that little to drink means you have no tolerance at all

Exactly.
Hell, .07?? I blew that after communion last Sunday.;)
Did you keep going back for more......

I always did in disguise.....

Bet the roommate put the sock on the door again and poor lonely Kyle once again had to skulk off to sleep in the can. Only this time the roommate was decent enough to leave a 40 of OE for the trouble.

Insult to injury. When the whole story came out it was so pitiful, they couldn't help but set it aside.

Still don't get being "arrested" for public intox in a "private" place when you are below the legal limit(?) Just another example of the further "NAZI -a-nation" of our country and we all just stand by and comment on a message board.

Mostly with snarky or even less funny comments... along with the high and mighty... "well the kid has learned a lesson" or "he hasn't yet learned to tolerate it? ... WTF

The uni cop should be disciplined. When the kid blew .07, the cop should have apologized and took the kid back to his dorm. The UI aggressively teaches harm reduction. This kid drank with moderation and got himself safely back to the dorm building. The fact that they booked him at all is total BS.

This is what comes of President Sally's campaign to remove Iowa's reputation as a party school. Over enforcement is becoming the rule instead of common sense.

She's done a magnificent job...Iowa has gone up in the Party School rankings over the past few years. Let's home she goes after premarital sex next.
