CFN Bowl Projections

I wonder why they think Wisconsin will be able to do anything against our defense this year when we completely dominated them last year in Madison. I'm convinced our offense will be significantly better this year, so that game is probably going to be a really ugly blowout.

As we all know, OSU nearly lost at home against us with our backup freshman quarterback making his first start ever. With the game bei in Kinnick and with Stanzi throwing TD passes all over the place to McNutt ang playednd DJK, I don't see how they think Ohio State stands a chance against us either.

They were running all over us until Clay got hurt.

Because Vandenberg actually probably played better than Stanzi could have. Yes, Stanzi could have gotten the W in the 4th. IF he had inherited Vandy's start. With the turnover bug being Rick's problem last year, we probably aren't in position for his magic to make a difference in Columbus. Vandenberg gave us the best chance to win that one. I do think Rick will improve, but last year, a couple picks (and a pick 6 especially) would have buried us against that OSU defense and the Vest's ultra-conservative offensive gameplan.

There's no question in my mind that Stanzi would have won against OSU. Did you watch when we played Indiana? I don't care how many picks he throws and how far down we are, our defense will bail us out and he will win the game in the end. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Yup, but The Ferentz would have found a way even if Clay hadn't gotten hurt. In Kirk I trust.

Look at the Holiday Bowl ... They have Michigan v. Oregon. I'm no big city lawyer, but the Holiday Bowl pits the No. 3 Team in the Big 12 against the No. 2 Team in the Pac 10. I don't know how they wrangled that match-up.

was it really that clay was injured or was it that bielema was an idiot by trying to throw a curve ball and inserting a different QB early in that game? seemed to go downhill from there for the badgers as iowa's D really picked it up regardless of who was running the football.

Last time Wisconsin had all this hype they blew it all down their leg. I dont think they will deal well with the pressure and hype this year and will have 3-4 loses. We will see how it plays out but I dont think Bielema will be able to take the heat up there in Madison.......
I'm not sure how much attention you pay to reality but we did the exact same thing a few years ago.

I, too, am baffled at anyone who would think Wisconsin will beat Iowa at Kinnick Stadium this year. Iowa went into Camp Randle and was flat out man-handling them by the end of the game.

This year will be more of the same, but with more offense from Iowa.

key word is way too early... bowl projections in the first week of the season is way to early not to mention the first week of may!

It was odd to see him pull Tolzien right after he marched the Badgers down the field for a touchdown. Not exactly the best way to instill confidence in the young man, and it showed up in the second half.

When is the last time CFN got much of anything right? If they did baseball, they'd have the Colts winning the World Series.

Well it is early, but if you are going to do this shouldn't you at least know what conference the bowls tie into so you could make it look better:

1) They have Michigan in the Holiday Bowl as the Big 10 #5 team when in fact it should be the Big 12 #5 team

2) I don't think the Big 10 has ties to the Little Caesars Bowl in Detroit anymore and they have that as the #8 Big 10 team

Once more, Bucky getting props over Iowa. Who exactly did they beat last year and who is going to replace their only pass rusher?

Why shouldn't they?

Iowa rarely beats them when it matters. They have won many Big Ten titles in a row.

It would be ignorant to pick against them.

Stop complaining.

Again, when people say "Bucky", odds are they mean it as in Bucky Badger. As in Wisconsin. As in why the f are they getting so much love?

Like it or not, Iowa lost 6 draft picks off of last year's team, plus major contributors Dace, Rafael, and Trey.

The national press recognizes that we have a ton of talent returning, but the prevailing opinion is that we're not just going to easily replace the missing parts.

The truth is that we have players with starting experience returning at almost all of the positions where we lost players to graduation - but I wouldn't expect the pundits to dig deep enough to see that.

I will say this - there is no chance that we're going to finish behind Wisconsin in the standings.

I realize that they call it "way too early picks" but if you're going to issue these picks you should at least research the bowl tie ins before you go out on the limb. As others have already stated the Big 10 has no tie in with the Holiday Bowl. Furthermore, if OSU goes to the NC game, they would be the Big 10's automatic bid. Under the BCS' new contract with the Rose Bowl, if one of the participants (Big 10 or Pac 10) opts out because of the NC game, the Rose Bowl is forced to pick a non BCS team as a replacement. Hence, by rule, they could not pick Wisky as a replacement even if they were eligible for an at large BCS bid.

Actually with the way they have it the Rose Bowl can have a USC/Wisconsin match up. Only 1 team from a non BCS conference can be an automatic qualifier and they have TCU as that qualifier and in the national title game.
