Cesar update

Remember Cesar Guerrero? 6' point guard, probably closer to 5' 10". I believe the story went something like this: He wanted to come to Iowa but his brother forbid it. Now he plays for Okie St (9-8) and is scoring 6.8 ppg and shooting 35% from the field. He has 24 assists and 24 TO's.

He would have looked great in black and gold. Orange, not so much.

Did you say something???

Umm... Who cares what colors he looks best in? Who really cares about him on this board what so ever?? Unless we are discussing pizza, I see no reason to mention the name!! Pizza Pizza, is GOOD!!

If Cesar came to Iowa, he probably would have taken over for BC when he got hurt.
That would have meant Marble would have lost time at the point. Maybe Dev doesn't get the minutes to get into the flow and accelerate the game. I'll take Marble over Cesar.

Marble 11.2 points, 67 assists-27 turnovers.

Oh, and compare Cesar to Oglesby's stats: 6.0 ppg, 23 assists-9 turnovers.
Josh's stats are better than Cesar's too.

Blessing in disguise. Iowa is just fine without him (something I didn't expect to say earlier this year).

Plus now you have Gesell and Clemmons coming in - would have been pretty tight at the PG position.

oh god i really barf on those pizzas ! i hate it!

hey atomic, I'm getting to the point where i know its your post without looking. you definitely have your own style

Atomic, you are allowed to drink the Kool-Aid. Stay away from the pizza, you have enough to make you sick reading some of the posts around here!! Myself not excluded.

It would have been nice to see Marble slide to his natural position, but he will only benefit from playing PG this season.

If there is any PG that Iowa could have gotten that would meant not getting Gesell, it would have been Burke, he is the best frosh in the BIG and continues to improve.
He has played against quality competition his whole career and was the most impressive PG I have seen play in HS in the last two seasons. I wrote Iowa off on him when they offered, but man would he had been a heck of a puzzle piece for Fran.

the kid is also a freshman....tough to tell what kind of player he'll be for another year or so.....I'm fine with who we have.

I have heard that he is not the most popular guy in the locker room. Might have been a blessing in disguise for Iowa to miss out on him.

Hell, maybe we wouldn't even have got Gessel, which could mean not getting Woodbury

Or maybe Fran gets the kid to play up to his potential and we are 14 -6 right now

I won't pull a total sour grapes post here, because I definitely wanted him. But having him might have had serious repercussions regarding Gesell, Woodbury, and Marble. I'd rather take what we've got than roll the dice on Cezar at this point. Not because I don't think Cezar will be a good/great player, but because I'm that excited about what we're building without him.

I think its safe to say he sucks and we never wanted him anyways

I know this is tongue-in-cheek, but honestly I think Iowa is ok without him. That's not sour grapes or anything - I really hoped Iowa was going to land him and thought they would. That said, I'm sincerely ok with not having him on the roster. Iowa is mighty fine without him.

I think more than anything it shows that when Iowa misses on recruits, that they can easily be replaced. There are very few recruits that come in and change a program from day 1 as a Fr.
