He started at offensive tackle as a RS FR while at SDSU. Also, in high school, if I remember things correctly ... he was a TE.
My impression of things is that he wanted to play at a higher level and Iowa afforded him a chance to do that. I believe that Morgan kept tabs on him and Orne was encouraged to walk-on. I anticipate that he was brought on to help Iowa at either OT or OG ... whichever spot he's able to make more noise at.
As for the the situation at C. We shouldn't have many worries there. Ferentz is likely the favorite to win the job in 2010 ... with Koeppel coming in as a close 2nd. Furthermore, I believe that Boffeli was originally recruited and projected at the C spot.
