CBSSports.com's panel of experts break down what to expect in the Big Ten during the 2013 season.

Dennis Dodd (I know we like to pummel Dodd, and for good reason):
Next head coach to become a coordinator: Kirk Ferentz, Iowa. Since losing his major-bowl mojo, Ferentz (11-14 the past two seasons) always has seemed a fit for where he came from -– the NFL as an assistant. The Hawkeyes have finished higher than third once in the Big Ten since 2004.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the running game this year with Weisman, with a somewhat-veteran Offensive Line. Question mark at the fullback position.

Sadly, our measuring stick is now Iowa State.

Well I'm no math scientist, but by my calculations that mean 3 of the 8 don't think we'll finish last. Sounds like we got a chance!

Not to squash your optimism, but I think the other guys pick us next to last. Were going to battle it out with the goofers.

How so? Where are they wrong? Your answer is just as worthless as "We're gonna suck and anyone who says different is an idiot" guy. What can you argue that makes these predictions such a waste of time? I can give you a great deal of reasoning as to why they are completely fair and valid.
 
All we can do is ''take the pain''.
We have no comebacks for these pronostigators.
All we can do is pray that KF and the Hawks prove them enormously wrong.
It is college football...anything is possible.

I hope that the players and KF see all the negatives being written,and that stokes the fire in their bellies to prove them all wrong.

These guys love to throw dirt on KF....he will dance on their graves,hopefully.
Fitz is the flavor of the month....cannot wait til they end up at 5-7.
 
If these dudes really followed Iowa football they'd know we won't totally suck this year.

We'll merely be average to below average. Suck it Dennis Dodd.
 
I said this before. Iowa holds statistically two of the most important indicators of a winning team. Those are 8+ returning starters on defense and both kicking specialists returning ( punter and kicker. There are other statistical trends that also indicate winning.
 
This guy is the only one paying attention.

Last in the Legends? Perfect, we have them right where we want them, Lol. Just watched the movie "The Patriot" last night. I love it at the end when we kick the over confident British's azz. :)
 
At least the interior linemen will be of the proper size to have a chance this year. I am hoping for a much more physical team. I would enjoy that.
 
why do you even care where they predict Iowa to finish? KF would have a national championship ring if Diesel's undefeating prediction was valid.

This is just it, with as bad as we were last year why would we expect anyone in the media to predict anything else?

Finish last year:
Legends:
Nebraska
Michigan
Northwestern
Michigan St.
Iowa
Minny

Leaders:
Ohio St.
Penn St.
Wisconsin
Purdue
Indiana
Illinois

At no point did any media member pick a single team to move more than one spot in the standing. The media is group think, they always have been, and they always will be. These guys will do the same thing in 2014 as well.....basically predict the finish to be whatever 2013 ended up being.

Fitz has never led NW to as high as 3rd in the league in his 7 years,but he is some kind of genius.....he is 26-30 in the league in his 7 years at the helm.
KF was 33-23 in the league in his first 7 years at the helm....but he is chopped liver and Fitz is a god?

what is KF's record the last 7 years, the same time frame as Fitz? Too lazy to look it up. I looked it up, KF is 27-29 in the last 7 years in B1G play, 1 game better than Fitz. I don't take KF first 7 years because take the last 7 years then they would of played about half the games against the same teams.
