Interesting that he mentioned how the schedule is easier this year. Someone on here was just telling me how this year's schedule is just as tough as last year.

Lol. Tough last year...........in comparison to the last three seasons I guess that is true but just a typical B1G schedule that we were used to in the 80’s and 90’s ESPECIALLY if you threw in the the pre-conference teams. A wise coach once said that during the non-conference season we should play one team we should beat easily, one that could go either way, and one that we could likely loose unless we play our best game. This kind of schedule makes a team better and prepares them for the conference foes.

I have always said that having an easy schedule is overrated in how much success a team has. Really it just makes a difference of 1 win. So an easy schedule can turn an 7-5 team into an 8-4 team, but it does not turn a 7-5 team into a 12-0 team.

If you think about it the main difference is Iowa played MSU and OSU in 2017 but plays MD and Indy in 2018. But Iowa went 1-1 last year against MSU and OSU. Hopefully Iowa will go 2-0 against MD and Indy, which even if that happens, only improves Iowa's record by 1 win.

In the end, you still need to beat the teams in your division to win your division. So in that sense it helps that Iowa is playing Wisc, NW and Neb in Iowa City in 2018.

It's a double standard - go 8-5 against a top 10 schedule and you're outside of the top 25 and had a "mediocre season" - go 12-0 against a weak schedule and aren't ranked where an undefeated B1G team *should* be and you are the "fake ID".

The only way to make a "weaker" schedule look better is to totally dominant. I stole that from the Wisconsin and OSU play book.
ARE YOU LISTENING KF???

So there's Hassel. I was hoping he'd have gotten more run at Espn than he got. He was one of their unceremoniously laid off guys a year or so ago. I hadn't heard where he'd landed. I felt he was awesome on radio and would be a great guy to replace Dolph ….
