CBI

I for one think it's a mistake to refuse an invitation to the CBI tournament if it's our only choice. This team is starting to come into its own and can make a splash. If we lose to MSU or Wisky and don't get an invite to the NIT, it would be a shame for this team not to get a chance to play somewhere.

That reporter is claiming it is a conflict of interest since the games are shown on HDNet. I don't get it.

If the powers that be with the big ten tell Barta and McCaffrey no CIB, their hands will be tied. As I stated in another thread, my guess is it has something to do with $$--not getting TV revenue. Odd, as McCaffrey has mentioned on multiple occasions they will play if given a a chance.

I think it'd be totally stupid to accept their offer since we'll have the automatic bid to the NCAA on Sunday.

That is stupid, the TV revenue a small network like HDNet is getting has to be minor compared to what they are getting off the BTN.

I guess the games tomorrow, on ESPN, is a conflict of interest too?

I don't think this is analogous. Doesn't the B1G have a deal with ESPN? Not really to call you out Stormin, but I've lost track at this point with who has tv deals with who and how the tv deals are allocated. However, one can safely assume the B1G has no ties with HDnet, so no piece of the pie for the conference in this case.

Then I guess Iowa shouldn't play in Cancun next year. Its broadcast by CBS College Sports. Dumb. Screw em Fran, take the invite.

If it comes down ot it there is no doubt in my mind Fran will do what he can to get Barta to accept a CBI bid. Idk if that'll be enough thou
