Todd Berkenpas joined the Iowa basketball program on the heels of a standout prep career at Maple Valley of Mapleton, where he played for his father, Alden. Berkenpas scored 2,536 points — a 31.2-point average — and was named Iowa’s Mr. Basketball for 1981. Signed by coach Lute Olson, he lettered four seasons for the Hawkeyes, graduating in 1986. Berkenpas, 53, is now manufacturing manager for Rockford Process Control, Inc., in Rockford, Ill.
