Carver Getting A $96 Million Parking Garage

According to Kakert, BG was on the fundraising trail a few months ago, looking for 65 million to get the corporate suites(luxury boxes) put inside Carver. Is that next?

I’m sure the parking garage thing has been in the works for several years. Those kind of capital improvement things take a long time to get in motion. I’d bet my house the parking garage predates Beth.

McCollum vaguely hinted at getting more student attendance and engagement, I’d bet the next thing we see at CHA is a new student section down by the floor. Luxury boxes the way CHA is laid out would take a major facelift to the inside of the arena. I don’t know how you’d do it without making it multi-level, the concourse of the current bowl configuration is a looooong ways back from the court/floor

They need to just get a new facility built. Carver is not ideal. I love my memories from games at Carver but they need something where the fans are closer in on the court. Oh, and name the damn court ‘Chris Street Court’ regardless of where they play. Should have been done in the 90s. Parking will be a plus but maybe that money could be better placed, I don’t know.

On a side note, the Carver family is moving to Iowa City. Not sure if that's right away or in months, but that's the buzz I got from my daughter, who's friends with their daughter.

As far as Carver, as has been discussed many times, a new arena/location probably isn't very feasible, and I'm sure there will be some changes inside the arena.

My criticism has always been the bowl construction and lack of any kind of statuesque appearance from the outside. I don't know if we have any structural engineers on the site, but I've wondered if it's possible to build something large and creative on the roof of the current structure?

If so, the possibilities are endless and could be very creative. With modern technology, it could even incorporate huge shifting holograms, water fountains, bars, restaurants, and on and on. I just don't know if it's even structurally possible.

Well maybe the homeless people can live there in the parking garage. You think I am kidding? The article below is happening all over the country. How many of you even pay any attention to what's going on?

The head of the CDC in Georgia just recently resigned and at the same time, there are huge cuts to the CDC while at the same time there is a measle out break spreading across the country and you got a nut job anti-vaccination Secretary of Health (Robert Kennedy) who doesn't know shit about what he is doing.

From the article; "Additionally, more than 24 grants funded by the National Institutes of Health have been canceled, according to CBS, which reported that “although the COVID federal public health emergency has ended, the virus is still killing Americans: 458 people per week on average have died from COVID over the past four weeks, according to CDC data."

Sorry to disrupt your sports talk here but this is serious shit.

Now who do you think we can get to play Center for us? ROFLMAO!!! Somehow it just doesn't seem that important to me with all those who are or will be suffering from job losses and health benefits to needy children, women, and men.

I hope you and all of your families have gotten measle vaccinations some time in your lives. I think I got mine about 57 years ago at school when I was attending elementary school in a small Iowa town of about 1800 people.
