Cartwright's play today shows why Gesell will start next year

Marble does a decent job at the point but I don't think he's well suited for Fran's style of play. He just doesn't push the ball enough, which is crucial when playing against teams like Northwestern and Wisconsin that smother you in their half court defense. Cartwright is a perfect fit for Iowa's system, he just tends to turn the ball over too much and has no outside shot. Hopefully Gesell will remedy those two things while still being able to push the ball.

Bryce Cartwright struggled though injuries all season... please don't diss him too much.

If he is really healthy now and can keep his head... who knows this year.

Dev Marble is a unique and developing talent. The idea that he isn't what Fran wants at point guard misses the point.

Dev with some more strength, a better shooting percentage from the 3, the 2 and free... and a bit better head and motor for the game will play in the NBA.

Mark my words.

No, I think you miss the point. He isn't a point guard. Sure he can fill in and do ok but look what Bryce does when he is on. He penetrates and finds the open man usually for an easy basket. It isn't a knock on Marble it just isn't his game.

That quite a few words we'll be marking.

So according to that assessment, he's weak, can't shoot from anywhere, and has no feel for the game but is on the fast-track to be LeBron's running mate.

Gee... good thing he doesn't have many things to work on.

If I were 6'9, shot 55% from the 3pt line, played like Michael Jordan and blocked shots like Shaquille I would be playing in the NBA too.

Mark my words.

Cartwrights play showed why we need a real point guard.

Hes a decent passer but not strong enough or fast enough with the ball.

A good point should have been able to penetrate the gaps in that zone with regularity.
