has been hurt and has had the flu, this is a true indication of our struggles and one others have been afraid of as to how this team would play,
face it he has to be healthy for this team to win or be competetive, this year will be geared to him being 100%

I have said this a couple of times now, but this team will go as far as BC takes it. Without him at 100% we are going to struggle a lot. He has got to be the leader of this team, more than Gatens, because he is the one with the ball in his hands. He was awful at the beginning of last year too, so maybe he is really sick and will pick it up soon. Really hope we aren't too buried by the time he comes around.

Well he is the ONLY player who can create with any level of consistency off the dribble. He is not really a great scorer but he starts the offense and is the only one on the team who can draw multiple defenders when he puts the ball on the court.

It was crazy to see people on this board say that Marble, Ogelsby, Gatens and I saw some suggest May would work as back up ball handlers. There is a difference between being a ball handler and a play maker. Ogelsby seems to be a good passer and a decent ball handler but he sure as heck will never be a top level Big 10 PG.

I don't know what Hubbard would have done but losing out on Guerrero and Hubbard was huge.

It will not be a great season even with a fully healthy Cartwright and it could be flat out ugly if he is not healthy this year.

from what i heard he not starting nor is he getting very many minutes for the team he went too, and is a supposedly lower tier mid major team, not sure what people expected or saw that would imply he could get major minutes here

He is talking about Hubbard, wherever he transferred to.

Cartwright and Mel have to play at least at last year's levels. for the Hawks to be successful this year. So, they both have contributed zilch.

Hubbard would have started, why he isn't getting minutes at a smaller school is anyvody's guess.

Reality check folks, just because a school is a mid-major doesn't automatically mean their talent is inferior to Iowa's, in fact over the last 4 years that cannot be assumed at all.

Maybe Hubbard isn't playing much at his new school because that team already has 2 or more capable and talented players at his position?

If Iowa was automatically so much more talented than these what-used-to-be lower tier schools then we wouldn't have lost AT HOME to teams like Louisiana Monroe, South Dakota State and Campbell.

The talent level Iowa had under Davis and even Alford is not near what we have now but it is getting there. There is also a lot more parity in college basketball than there ever was, teams don't just roll over anymore just because you're a team from a bigger named conference.

Cartwright will turn it around if he gets healthy, if he doesn't we win 2 more games than last year with a long and ugly season.
