Captain Kirk

One thing that has me thinking is what Kirk must be thinking right now. Alot is being said about players and what the coaches may or may not have heard. Think of this from a different angle.

Coach has put his blood, sweat, and tears into this program. He is proud to be a coach for Iowa. He has huge expecatations for the kids as well as the program.

What if he has been doing everything by the book only to find out people haven't been honest with him. Imagine how you would feel if one of your kids did something like this. You ask them to be honest, trustworthy, and respectful. You are a member of the family, make us proud.

Come to find out there is a huge problem and your kids have been breaking the rules. Imagine how you would feel...

I am concerned for coach. He has been great for the program and is a class act. I trust him and believe in him. He mcuh pressure can the guy take from our expectations and then have the bus run him over.

There are/were checkpoints in place that obviously failed somewhere down the line. I'm not blaming coach, but surely people, whether they are players or coaches, knew something and it was wrong if they didn't bring it to his attention.

That being said, I am a teacher. I love my job and am passionate about what I do. I would think that KF has the same passion being a "teacher" and if there is any positive to come out of this it is to use this experience as a teaching tool for his players who have been true to him and the program. Get that "next man in" pumped up and excited about an opportunity, proud to be a Hawkeye, and show him how to be a great football player and role model, a good and responsible student, and a fine young man who can contribute positively in society when he leaves the program.

As frustrating as any of this news is, or will be, I would think the staff and players (and maybe us fans) need to look at it as an opportunity.
