Canzeri?

You know the talent level of your team is problematic when there is a multi-page thread debating whether or not a 2-star RB we swiped from mighty Villanova is being used properly.

I think Weismann is simply a chains mover. I do like him but let's face it he rarely if ever does take one to the house and given the number of carries he sees you would think that there would be at least one long 40 plus run for a TD against a BCS opponent.

There is nothing more devastating to a defense than a running back that busts a long one and scores. Canzeri could be a poor man's Fred Russell who was very effective in explosive runs. Russell was also stopped numerous times by an arm tackle but when he broke one Kinnick was electric. Same was true when Greene busted one and did many times.

I am all for the thunder of Weismann and Daniels but I want some lightning as well.

Maybe it is just me but I have not been as enamored with Weismann this year as last year. I do not think he is running as hard as last year and he is breaking far less tackles. Maybe he has modified his style though due to injuries?

I have also noticed that weisman doesn't hit the hole as hard as he did last year. Maybe he has become tentative from his injuries.

I've also noticed quite a few times where bullock leaves yards on the field by not seeing the field well. Although I haven't seen it the last game or two.

And using a fullback as your tailback. Gotta agree with you on the talent level problem.

Pretty much sums up the talent level for the majority of Iowa's RB's.

Iowa's RB's have to like running between the tackles. Canzeri is not that type of back. I think he will transfer along with Hill and maybe Malloy. We all have seen how Kirk uses his backs, and I don't expect any changes in the near future.

I am curious if Canzeri could bring anything to the offense. With that being said, I like the 3 backs that we have in Weisman, Bullock and Daniels. This whole season, people have been whining for more playing time for Daniels. Now, it's Canzeri. This isn't little league people. Not everyone gets playing time and a ribbon.

And there goes the explosiveness of Iowa's offense. Particularly distressing since Iowa needs to score lots of points because of their D.

That would make sense except did you notice that the first half (you know, when Iowa was actually leading) it was because of long, sustained scoring drives and not an "explosive" offense? The game was lost in the 2nd half because Iowa couldn't sustain drives and keep the OSU offense off the field. Iowa is not Oregon or Baylor in that they are going to win shootouts, winning is about coming out of top in time of possession and winning the turnover battle and I doubt that will change any time soon.

I am not going to quote everyone, but as for talent level and the length of this thread, you have no proof of that. I have no proof your wrong either.
I think mark is running a little different due to coaching. I would guess they suggested he wait for blocks and holes more. Limits the hard hits, which plays out over a season and should end up with a few longer gains.
As for depth and transfers, SWITCH POSITIONS. Go to the coaches and tell them you are willing to do so, if it helps the team. It will be a ton of work, but it is not like it has not been done here before. Infact it has worked out very eell for the team and player many times.

Ok, at the risk of being banned, I'll say it anyway:

You're an idiot. Your football knowledge sucks, your constant deriding of the team, coaches and anyone who gets playing time has long since gotten old. Your love of anyone who does NOT get playing time isn't "new" or "insightful", it can be heard in bars and TV rooms nationwide.

Just STFU already and let those of us who actually care and know about the program discuss it.

I'd say its more of an indictment of the knowledge base of some of its fans/poster on here.

Give him credit. He is consistent.
