Can't Hide Your Coach In College Football!

Coach or coaches/coordinators. We've heard the same ole' points in multiple threads so I won't list all the reasons.

How does a team coming off a bye week have a performance like that we saw Saturday night? How can a team get beat in EVERY aspect of a game? I realize that some years a team may be depleted at a certain position such as WR, etc., but still could put up some decent running numbers, or vise versa. How can a team be bad in all aspects of offense? 30 some yards rushing!!? Really?

Iowa's offense is bad in the trenches, in the backfield and to the outside. HOW? It probably comes down to the trenches, but, you supposedly have one of the best offensive line guru's in the nation! It's not just that they are bad, it that they brought back depth from a regular season undefeated team last year.

Much of it has to be the predictability factor with this staff, hence, why experienced players are not succeeding on plays. I don't care how good they are with their form and footwork, it the other team knows the handful of plays that you always run or what plays you are checking in to, you will get beat on the play.

This is what you get when you throw a bunch of 2*, 3* and walk-ons that you've "developed". I'm not saying there aren't the diamond in the rough 2-3 stars or walk-ons who surprise and succeed, but when you litter your entire roster with said 2-3* and walk-ons, you get what you saw last Saturday. You COULD CLEARLY see a speed issue on the field, both offense and defense, more alarming on defense. Speed KILLS, also when you don't have it!

You can develop players all you want. When you watch Iowa football, you watch the form and footwork of the players, along with the zone blocking scheme and say "Wow, they are really disciplined with terrific form", but it all doesn't matter if you don't have the horses to keep up with the opposing talent.

KF is a perfectionist which may be his largest obstacle as a successful coach. He has difficulty putting players on the field that he doesn't deem has the perfect technique or best downfield blocking. Talented players don't see the field unless they are perfect. This often causes teams to play tight.

So pawns, YOU CAN'T HIDE YOUR COACH IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL!

And I add that maybe we need the same thing to happen that happen late in 2014 when that donor marched up into the press box and started knocking some skulls. We only saw some positives happen after he beeotched to whoever in the press box. After this is when the "new" KF came to be. We had the QB controversy going into that bowl game where KF stated the QB position was open and both were going to play. Then in early 2015 is when he put the 2 deeps out in January.

IMO, that booster triggered it all for 2015 and probably said he wasn't going to give another penny unless changes were made. That is what I think happened.

Valid questions; agree with everything. Unfortunately, there's only one solution and it just isn't going to happen unless that same "booster" storms into GarBar's office and demands that he restipulate $ from the north end zone to the buyout. Even then, he'll need to bring a couple buddies before that boot-licking schmuck gets the message.

So, unless you're one of those Big $, it's to the point of preaching to the choir, here, and shouting in the wind, out there. Other than that, do your part by stop attending, buying gear or donating to any U of IA organization.

Because our staff cannot recruit.

"That's right, kid. We want you to be a receiver for us here at Iowa. After two years of practicing your blocking, you'll be ready to be a starter. Two years of running 3-yard patterns or blocking all game. You can look forward to anywhere from 0 to 3 passes per game coming your way. And did I mention the blocking?"

"Now, wouldn't you like to commit today?"

You forgot the part where if you're a 6'3" prototypical NFL wide receiver you need to wait until your senior year for a starting spot cuz that is reserved for pale midwestern kids who understand that swagger is a horrible thing and the ability to repeat banal Kirkisms shows true athletic ability.

That's not in the recruiting pitch though - it's in that wonderful commitment letter.

Receiver Addendum: "By committing to the University of Iowa as a receiver, you understand that playing time is not guaranteed. Furthermore, said playing time will under no circumstances be unduly influenced by such superficial abilities as catching, route running, or getting open."

Wasn't there a codicil that reads: "90% of your time at Iowa will involve learning blocking techniques from the O-line coach. Catching a ball and running it into the end zone will be 16th on your list of priorities." ???

Are you me? Am I you?
