Can we hire a D coordinator?

Can't hurt. Don't get me wrong love the team, talent, and potential but until they learn what transition D and playing help side D mean we might as well run the Grinnell offense.

Giving up 95 pts is almost unwatchable. We won't win until there is a paradigm shift in our thought. Fran's message of pushing the basketball and playing uptempo is not quite synergistic w/ playing tough defense/winning basketball. Fran knows this, but our players haven't gotten the message. Our on ball defense was bad, our help was as slow/late/nonexistent as I've ever seen. I lost interest at times in the second half, but I noticed at least twice that they cleared out and Josh's man just went by him to the basket or drew a foul. Lots of basketball left, but I will temper my expectations for this year (at least until I see that we can D up a quality opponent). Maybe an old school approach (not a Lick fan), but I'd like to see Fran put a defensive/athletic team out there for stretches. Heck, maybe even start them. Bad defense equals not winning; the sport doesn't matter. Go Hawks!

VT made 27-of-30 free throws, a lot of credit to them for making them and being aggressive, some blame to Iowa for fouling too much, and a lot of credit to the refs for taking over the game.

When you give up 27 free points your defensive numbers will never look good.

Sure. Give Marian University a call and see if their head basketball coach would be willing to come here and coach up the Hawks defense.

why can't you wait til the freshman get a full year under their belts be fore expecting them to play like NBA 1st rounders, none of these kids were recruited to be 1 and done players
