Can someone explain this to me?

I have no idea what this fool is talking about. This is a Barta quote from a January 14th NBC sports article.
“He felt, and I certainly supported it, that between now and signing day is too big of a chasm,†Iowa athletic director Gary Barta said. “People have shared rumors with me. Kirk’s out, I’m out, we’re both out. He’s the new AD, etc., etc. Just to talk about all that’s out there. To hear directly from our head coach, here’s where we think it went sideways in ’14 and here are our plans for ’15. I know he didn’t lay out every particular plan, that will come later.â€

Just that there were lots of rumors out there about some kind of shake up. To wait until after signing day to address them would have waited too long.

Interesting that GarBar dropped a Fran phrase - "sideways" - in reference to football.

He knows which horse to hook his wagon to if he's gonna have any chance at survival / revival. (Depending on how long White is out, let alone, next year, that horse might be on the trail to pasture.)

Hmm. So FerBarta is holding press conferences to dispel internet rumors now? Thanks. Was it that obvious or do you have some sort of BS decoder ring?

I fully support Gary Barta and the coaching staff at Iowa. They will rise from the ashes like a Phoenix propelled by Sally's spirit.

Football is the wagon that moves the UI ath dept along. I think GBar just likes the Fran reference 'sideways' because GBar's time left as AD is hooked to the football team

I completely tune Barta out. He is a man whose time is coming and he has to know it. He is going to ride the Kirk stagecoach as long as he can (or at least through next season ... after which I think they will both be gone) ... Gary knows he flubbed Kirk's contract ... He knows he has to give his "rah, rah" Kirk messages because HE is the one who inked him to the hedious contract. I absolutely expect Gary and Kirk will both be departing together ... My guess is Kirk "retires" after next season and Barta pulls a Steve Alford and accepts a job with a smaller school and (like Alford) tries to convince us it was career advancement. Like Alford, Barta can feel his seat getting awfully warm ... And with a new president just around the corner ... bye, bye ...

It cannot come soon enough for me. HUGE party at my place when Gary Barta is out of Iowa. I'll buy a keg if he's FIRED!

How do you know he wasn't using Davis' s term to discribe how he wants his passes thrown?
