Can Hawks make the NIT?

Used to be that the Hawks in a tourney usually meant a large base of traveling fans. If we don’t go to home games, we aren’t traveling to Provo Utah or some other obscure location for a first round game

If we don’t beat nebby, might be best to just recognize this season for what it wasn’t

Net Rankings: 69
Kenpom: 73

Crowns Basketball tournament
NIT

Here is a link to what it takes to make both tournaments. The 3rd paragraph explains the NIT. It is a wikipedia link so take it, fwiw.

Personally, I think they get worked in Lincoln tomorrow. They never play well there. I usually hate it when the season ends, but I am ready for this one.

I'm sure there are lots of mixed feelings about this, many of them negative.

I have one reason I'd like to see them keep playing, the players for the effort they've put in. I guess a second reason would be to give Payton that Puncher's Chance at a Top 10 finish on the scoring list.

I won't be surprised, though, if they go nowhere and the season is over on Sunday.

Hopefully, I am wrong and they win tomorrow. I will be watching if they somehow make the Crown or the NIT.

There seemed to be some sentiment that last night's Illinois game was the last game of the season. Wasn't it just a week ago we were talking about the Hawks chances of postseason play with a losing record and we thought there was a chance. Now we have a winning record, and it seems to me one of the tourneys, NIT or CBC will take the Hawks. I'm sure we'll be hearing more about this subject.

I guess there's always a chance Fran, Beth, the program, the players could decide they don't want to play anymore this season. But I don't see it. If you are a basketball team and can play more games, you do it.

There's a 3rd tourny called The Crown that's on the table. Fran when asked about it yesterday said he'd be up for playing in that. I think everything just remains to be seen at this point. Is Beth going to fire him soon or after post season play or at all has to be made. There's a chance they fire Fran before that and then all bets are off on what happens.

There are actually 5 postseason tourneys. When the talk about this new tourney, the CBC came out, nothing was said about the other two that have been around for more than a decade, the CBI and the CIT. I surfed a bit on found an article from the Indy Star that I'll post below. Everything you need to know about March Madness.
