Can Hawks Find Mojo in Evanston?

For the first time in a long time we are going into a game and I pretty much don't expect the Hawks to have a chance to win. (other than the bowl game last year). Sadly if we are going to lose I would rather we just get blown out then to keep it close so maybe Rudock can get on the field and get some reps.

Pattie Fitz has been our buggaboo. I just hope we play better than last week. JVB will be going against a so-so seondary!

When did Iowa have this mojo you speak of? And if we did have it at all PSU raped and pillaged it in teh pink locker room!

If your hoping for a blow out prepare for more meltdowns of epic proportion, but don't expect to see Rudock. If he didn't get into last weeks blow out he won't see the field if it happens again any time soon.

I think it will take an injury to Mark early in the game coupled with at least 2 big passing plays for Iowa to have a chance. MacMillian is going to have to hold his own because if JVB begins to at all doubt his left side this game will get ugly fast.

I don't think so but I hope like heck I'm wrong.

NW is pesky for us and that won't change this year. Even if their secondary is decimated, we have no passing game, so that won't help us. Our D either has to step up big or JV has to light it up. I don't usually predict Hawkeye losses but I'm expecting to turn the game off by the end of the first half.

Iowa has a tendency to make struggling, average quarterbacks look like Peyton Manning.
I really hope that changes this week.

Neat-o! The Hawks always have success defending small, "shifty and fast" backs out of the hurry-up. Add in Colter at QB, Colter at WR, Colter out of the wildcat and it should be quite a show of the DL grasping at air while the LB's pirouette like the turnstiles at Kinnick during the 3rd quarter of PSU.

I am certain one of the QB's is going to break out of his funk, though.;)

Seriously, I am looking forward to Weisman being back on the field -- hopefully at full strength the entire game. If he can get rolling early that will at least increase the opportunity to target past the 1st down marker. Of course, then it's on JVB to see it and execute it.

Cuban Mojo Sauce recipe

The authentic mojo is made with juice from sour oranges. It still has that little orangy taste, but its very acid and tart. You can come close by mixing equal amounts of freshly squeezed orange juice with lime juice (*). If you live in areas with large concentration of Latinos you will probably find bottled Mojo (Goya brand makes one) or their produce department might have the slightly bumpy, thick skinned sour oranges. This recipe makes one cup.

1/3 cup olive oil
6 to 8 cloves garlic, thinly sliced or minced
2/3 cup sour orange juice or lime juice
(or equal portions orange juice and lime juice)
1/2 tsp ground cumin
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Heat the olive oil in a deep saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant and lightly toasted. Don't let it brown or it will be acrid tasting, just about 30 seconds should do it.

Add the sour orange juice, cumin and salt and pepper. STAND BACK; the sauce may sputter. Bring to a rolling boil. Taste and correct seasoning, if needed

Cool before serving. Mojo is best when served within a couple of hours of making, but it will keep for several days, well capped in a jar or bottle, in the refrigerator.

Use with Cuban sandwiches, boiled yucca, grilled seafood and meats, fried green plantain chips, etc.

I have seen recipes for mojo using cilantro in it, but that is not traditional to Cuban Cuisine.

(*) I prefer to add more lime juice than orange, as I like it very tart.

Even if Weisman is at 100%, we'll see how much the loss of Brandon Scherff hurts him and the running game.

The coaches need to get the players "jacked" up and that starts with Kirk coming out of his non-emotional bubble and do some fist pumping and screaming - The players need to be inspired and motivated. Where is it going to come from after such a brutal display against Penn State. IMO if we don't score in our first two possessions then no Mojo in Evanston.
