Can Cole play at the next level?

As he finishes his college career, any thoughts whether Jarryd could play in the NBA or a development league? Overseas?

Playing on Iowa teams characterized by reduced talent, lack of coaching consistency and high player turnover, he was put into positions and asked to do things that weren't natural for him. I'm not sure we ever saw his true potential as a 4.

He seems to be a solid young man and a senior leader on this squad. Would be great if he could continue his days as a player, if that's what he wants.

Sure he could play overseas. Maybe not in the best leagues overseas but he could make some money doing it

Cole could get in somewhere overseas, but thats about it.

Dude get hobby if you have time to sit around and think about this. I hope a couple of years ago you weren't asking this same question about Seth Gorney.

And the answer is a big no.

Big no to NBA and D League but if Cole wants to play overseas he can and will easily. Tons of leagues over there

I have a world of respect for Cole. He hung in there when other baled. To answer your question. HELL NO!!!!! Love the guy and his efforts but he has a better chance at winning the Masters this summer.

Why is the idea of him playing pro a hell no to you? Please explain.

Seeing him in the D league somewhere isn't out of the question. I mean Jared Reiners played a few years in the D League. He could easily make a decent living over seas if he decides to persue a basketball career.

Jared Reiner is 6'11" tall and weighs about 255 pounds. Cole is 'listed' at 6'7" and is 6'6" at best.

You can't teach height.

Reiner was having an All Big Ten senior year until the leg injury.

I'm not slighting Reiners at all. He was a very very solid player. I'm just saying there isn't a huge gap between the two. In four years I don't think Jarryd has ever actually played in his natural position.

I'll say this, he was light years more explosive and athletic prior to his knee injuries. He is a very smart player today, and he uses his body and shoulders very well to create space to get his shots off. If he had the athletic ability to get off the floor he did as a freshman he would be a much better player.

No.

Solid college player, great kid, mentally tough. But not big enough to be "big"..not a great shooter...and not quick enough to be "small".

Maybe play in Europe but not NBA material.

That being said, Cole deserves some special praise for what he's given to Iowa basketball the last four years. In perhaps, the most difficult 4 years in Iowa basketball history...the kid was solid. Through 3 coaches he played tough, kept his head up, showed exceptional maturity and at times...was the only inside force for the Hawks.

He'll be one that may be largely forgotten 5 years from now. But he has a lot to be proud of.

If the next level means the NBA, then not even close. If the next level means any league that pays for play, sure. He can learn Hebrew and play in Israel.

NBA, to me, seems highly doubtful, but I didn't know whether the D league was a remote possibility.

Obviously NBA is out of the question. DLeague is possible but if he does wish to play professionally, I think his best chances are overseas, nothing wrong with that.

He could possibly play in a euro league but he would not have a chance in the NBA. He gets everything out of his game and gives 110%. He is just limited in skills. Has a very poor shot, other than I like his FT shooting this year, is lost in transition a lot, and gets lost on defense. I would have loved to see him as a FB player. Great athlete and roll model. I am in no way knocking him, but it would be an incredible stretch for him to play pro ball. I expect him to be a leader in the private sector in whatever he chooses.
