Can an 11-19 team have a signature win?

I'm not sure a team with an 11-19 record can have a signature win. That said this sure feels like one. This was a complete team victory.

Brommer and Archie both played solid defense, rebounded well, and made the routine offensive plays. Matt Gatens (yes that Matt Gatens) hit BIG shots. Cartwright gutted through an injury and came back in the game to secure a win. Cole was possessed. Fran designed one of the best out of bounds plays in the history of the world. Eric May was aggressive. Basabee was full of energy. Marble was a beast on the boards.

That was fun. I can't wait for next year.

Absolutely this was a signature win. Purdue was playing for a Big Ten title and a number 1 ncaa seed.

Iowa might make a little noise in the Big Ten tourney... who knows?

Perhaps that rumor that Iowa might play in a postseason tournament is not so far-fetched. It might be a great time to keep playing. This team is getting better.

Of course they can DuffMan! If I do nothing but pull skanks out of the bar every weekend...I'm talkin' "Coyote Uglies", does it not become a "Signature Win" if I somehow snag a hottie towards the end of the season???

Signature win? Yes.

The real question is, does 1 win make 19 losses unforgettable?

We will forget those lessons in time, won't we? Because our team will continue to improve and remind us how great it is to be a Hawkeye. What we won't forget is how inept the ISU AD is. No, we will continue to be reminded how laughable our little brother is.

I also think this is a milestone win, if there is such a thing. I think we will look back in a few years, marveling at Fran's success, and see that the end of this year is when the program turned the corner.

My sense is the absolute domination of the 6th-ranked team in the country made an impression in many ways: to the players, who can see that with hard work for 40 consecutive minutes good things happen; to the likes of Devyn Marble, Andrew Brommer, yes, even Devon Archie, to see that they belong and can contribute at a high level (I thought Marble stepped up big running the point when BC was hurt); to higher level recruits, both those who attended in person and those who saw it on TV or highlights on SportsCenter; to Hawkeye fans and students, who were loud and obnoxious and were a part of this victory; to Hawkeye Nation generally, who can look FORWARD to the next basketball season with excitement and enthusiasm; to the basketball world in general, who can see that Iowa is coming back with a vengeance with a fast-paced, dominating brand of basketball and is no longer a guaranteed 'W.'

Did the Hawks just beat the #6 team in the country?

This is most definitely a signature way, any way you want to look at it.
