Calling Out Ex-players

I am curious whether it is ok to call out ex-players because Wegher, DJK, Ronnie Harmon's Rose Bowl performance and John Lickliter frequently draw the ire of Hawk fans. Like me.

I think Jon's new rule is fairly ambiguous and definitely needs clarification or examples. I don't see any point in saying, "Player X sucks." I do see a point in trying to constructively criticize, saying, "Player X isn't particularly good b/c he ________." If we can't even do the latter, I think posters will be fleeing this board like rats fleeing a sinking ship, w/ good reason.

When Jon says use common sense I would think people can figure it out. If you want to discuss something constructively that doesnt matter. He is talking to the trolls who start threads saying player X blows and is terrible, etc

I agree. Also, it isn't a new rule. Jon stated this rule a couple years ago when this site was new. I think it's the kind of thing that needs to be reiterated once in awhile.

If that's the situation, Jon needs to clearly state it. "Calling out a player" is a very, very ambiguous phrase. Both of the examples I used above are both "calling out a player," however one seems clearly more responsible and classy than the other. Jon just needs to eliminate any ambiguity.

This is where common sense comes in. As stated above this isnt a new rule. Jon is a reasonable person and if you make a reasonable post you will be ok

I may extend the bannings to people acting like my 2 year old when I take away something she should not be playing with, just on principle.

I guess if that long standing rule irritates you, it's akin to throwing a rock into a pack of dogs and the one that yelps is the one you meant to hit.

So step on up, one and all.

This isn't ambiguous. It's obvious and really doesn't merit discussion.

extend it to calling out current players as well. The treatment of #2, otherwise known as the iowa message board fan annual sacrificial lamb, is pathetic.

It's ironic you bring that up, as that was the thread that came to mind re my ambiguity claim. Please, Jon, could you offer info re who was banned from this thread, or what specifically they said that precipitated the ban?

The long and short of it is, if you are too ******* stupid to figure this out and you get banned because you are that ******* stupid, we are all better off not having you around here.

Seattle, give it a rest. I didn't see this thread til now, and nuked it cause I dont have time to parse through it. Use common sense in this matter. That's the end of it.
